Lji,

Sanjay says in one of his older blog posts "The lyrics were by Suddhananda Bharati and I am sure Turayur (Rajagopala Sarma) must have composed the tune"

RTP in Behag must have been good. Earlier this year at a concert in MFAC, heard a Behag Pallavi by TNS in Khanda Chapu (if I remember right).

Yes Sir, it was 'brindAvanam iduvO' , i have corrected the post.

Sathej : RTP was a grand affair. There was no time pressure whatsoever. Alalapana itself was for 11-12 mins, and 42min in total.

Actually this is the best format of a carnatic concert that anyone can follow. The main song started as early as
one hour in to the concert. Sanjay does what he preaches (his interviews) . No rush in the phase of alapana and
no speech and mostly new songs etc.

The sankarabaranam alapana was too good. The best of the day was the Behag alapana in the RTP. HK Venkatram
also did well in the Behag alapana. I guess here last time, Sanjay did Reethigowla and Bahudhari. I expected that
there will be RTP and he did not disappoint. I thought thani was bit longer , they should have shortened it a bit.

And very less neravals till RTP and Sanjay compensated it with ragamalika pallavi.

Organisers were a bit overenthu and it disturbed the audience a lot. I am not sure how much of the disturbance
it caused to Sanjay, though it was not reflected in his performance. For every audience entering the hall,
one of the organising commitee member accompanied them till they find the seat. This was a distraction
on an already packed hall. Then the money collection during the concert just like guruvayurappan samaj trust.
Then there was one person wanted to to take his car out. And another car blocked it. Instead of announcing
in the mic, the organisers carried a placard along every row, showing it right on to everybody's face ...
What an idea ! ( instead one can wait for the end of song and announce in the mic) . As it didnot help
a second person carried this placard again over every row. Finally donot know what happened.
On a different time, My realtive just looked up to see whether there is any balcony in the hall.
One of the organiser suddenly came rushing saying, we are sorry this fan is not working. And that is when we
realised that the fan above us is not working. And then in the middle of the audience, the organising comittee
was sitting and distributing pamblets and also inducting new members in to the sabha.

In the song list: vizhikkut tuNai
UrilEn kANi illai (the lights went off as Sanjay started the viruttam and he added: 'oLi illai' (no light) to the line, weaving the words into the text!)
As Rajgalan pointed out, typically Sanjay's sumptuous fare. A refreshing mandAri, a one of a kind SankarAbharaNam with innovative painting of the rAga a with accompanying hand gestures which reminded one of a painter at work. The Behag RTP was a grand work. Was the painting done for Behag? Not sure. kAnaDa and rishabhapriyA very emotive.
H.K.Venkatram's playing was very pleasing. The mrudangam's sound was all right, but nothing to write home about.KhanjirA was nice.
There were enough goings on in the hall which would have irritated some performers. While I missed the visuals of the placard, I was 'privy' to the busy traffic to the rest rooms from my corner of the hall. I however appreciated the brief intro. There were no more verbal interruptions of the mike hogging kind...

Devi,
Would have been nice if we had met but I was quite jet lagged to do anything other than to listen to the music. Meeting me is anything but a golden oppurtunity--in a jet lagged or my usual citizen queen state.
