This is a janya raga of 57th Mela Simhendra Madhyamam. The "Dha" note is omitted (varjya swaram) in the arohana as well as in the avarohana. There is a known composition of Sri. Pallavi Sesha Iyer in this raga. The song is " enthanee vinadundira " this song is available for download at www.sangeethapriya.com. sung by OS Arun. Any other songs in this raga can be referred to our Lakshman Sir, who may have a treasure of songs in this raga, I wish. This is a minor raga and has more similarity to its parent raga. Yes, the sanchara of the raga through notes MPNS gives a feel of Hamsanadam may be because of the same notes. I hope some experts in our forum can give more details of this raga.

Entani vinavinthuraa was a speciality of Lalgudi Jayaraman. there are commercial recordings. MlVasanthakumari has sung it in an Academy concert which too was made into a commercial tape(not whole concert).
another charming song is Kaalaratri-swaroopini by Dr. H.Muthiah Bhagavatar, part of the chamundamba ashtottara set. It is popular among musicians of the Mysore tradition, but is rarely heard now.

Lambodhara Dheera Lavanya is rendered in Urmika by Madurai Somasundaram. Lyrics rendered by him are the same as the last 2 charanas of Narayana Tirtha composition - jaya jaya swamin in sourashtra. The charanas are quoted:
lambOdara dheera lAvanya sAra
kambu sudhAnidhi karpoora goura
sAmba sadASiva satkruti chatura
sAmavEdageeta sakalAdhAra
SakrAdi sura ga Nasannuta charaNa
SAtakumbha maNi divyA bharaNA
dhikrutaghana vighna timirAvaraNa
dheera nArAyaNa teertha sukaruNa
Audio of Madurai Somadundaram is at: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cjdun2wdzmz

There is also a composition 'kALa rAtri svarUpiNi' in UrmikA.
i was once told that this composition has some stigma that it should be sung only at some 'kALi temple' or some such places and also that, Smt. Ganasaraswati, a not-so-popular artist of the yesteryears was a master in rendering this ragam and kriti.
however, i have heard it on a few occasions at concerts.
