I'm going to be performing my arangateram in a few months so I've been doing some shopping online to see what would be best for my invitations and brochures. I have a few questions and would appreciate if some of you could provide me with your input and experiences.

I live in the Santa Clara County and I know there are some artists around here that design cards. I'm wondering if I should have one of them design it and have it copied myself.

Or if I should have someone in India design it, have it copied, and mail it here for a collective fee. For those of you who have done that: how was your experience with that? were you involved in the designing process? which company did you go with?

It is much cheaper to get invitations and programs printed in India, and they do a fine job there. My father went about a month before my arangetram and designed them himself. He brought back invitations and the programs arrived in the mail a week before the show. Not only is printing inexpensive in India, but you end up with a better product IMO, since they have various dance-related pictures, such as those of temples and Lord Nataraja, to enhance the brochures. In the states, you'll have to supply printers with these pictures, or maybe risk getting a brochure that looks just like the one from the arangetram before yours.

Message me and I will try to get you the contact info for the printers we used (they are in Chennai).

My daughter, K. Vipanchi, has performed her Arangetram in December'06 in New Delhi (India). I have a soft copy of the brochure and will be happy to mail it to you, if you give me ur mail ID.
