No, Gobilalitha. It will never happen as I am still in the LKG class of Music. Lakshman Sir is an avatar, alltime great and genius. His knowledge in music is thorough and deep, as I could make from his postings, not only in this forum but in other similar forums too. My very little stock of music is just out of "kelvi gnanam" for the last over 45 years and my interest to rare ragas are out of my participation in Bhajans. I only try to share the little knowledge to those rasikas who may be interested to know about rare ragas. Bhajans do popularise/project rare ragas than through any other forms.
Honestly, I have not learnt music even for a day, from the basics/begining,from any Guru. The large active participation in this forum by many experts musicians had only given me encouragements to my postings in this forum. I will continue till my little stocks exhaust fully!!

Hariharan for sure is making a difference in highlighting bhajan ragas and we can see youngers participating in the discussion. Hariharan will not exhaust his stock as he continues to reimburse from other rasikas. Thanks Hariharan.

The other person we should recognize is VK RAMAN himself. He not only listens but painstakingly renders most of the kritis (including bhajans) bringing out the raga bhava. He is a gifted self-taught musician. His renderings along with his attention to the sahityam bring out the spirit of the sahityam. CM should be heard and enjoyed; and not just that - should be internalized so that it becomes a part of the inner self. There is a unique exhilaration when you can sing without inhibition a kriti (with an understanding of the meaning and the melody) and you need not be a performing musician or even trained in CM. It will come naturally if you dedicate your attention to the format and immerse yourself sincerely into it. This secret of 'nadopasana' was conveyed to me by SSI and confirmed by our dear Ramaraj (whom we all miss) who could create a super kriti at the drop of the hat after just hearing the mere definition of a raga! VK RAMAN is yet another gifted Rasika. It is indeed our fortune to have hariharan do the pearl-hunting which are getting embellished by VK RAMAN for our listening pleassure and even incentive to try them on our own.

God bless them!

CML Sir: I am humbled. You have been instrumental in encouraging me to sing on my own which I am doing. Here is one for you I rendered today.

Very nice bhava-laden rendering of the vaLLalaar viruttham.
Traditionally this is rendered in chenchurutti like the 'naadavindu kalladi...'. The abheri gives a certain romantic appeal! Try some verses from 'NaTaraja patthu' in different ragas. I would love to hear them. Even try some of the rare ragas Hariharan is bringing to light...

Very good!
The first one as far as I can see is nadanamakriya and not Saveri.
Your rendering of Sivaloka Naathanai reminded me of MMD. well done.
The final bhajan in Revathi is worth being sung by alarge group of bhajan assembly.

You should be a little bit more relaxed during the renderings as I see some rush in certain segments. You should let the natural notes flow easily. The kaarvai is equally important.

I am afraid none of these are from the famous Nataraja Patthu.
See for one of the renderings by Sanjay at

M. VKR Your renderings are really overflowing with Bhakti and full bhavam. Long live VKR . The Madhulika rag song is superb. Your Namavali in rag Revati is the most suitable piece to sing during a bhajan performance, especially immediately after singing the song 'Bho Sambo siva sambo swayambho". Very nice. HHHaridas Giri Swamigal had rendered the "Sivalokanadanai kandu" song in one of his bhajan albums and is a very touching song.

If you have the lyrics of Maanada mazhuvada....viruttam please post. Thank you.

Dear Rasikas, Pranams. Am I not dashing-in with my views on every thread regarding ragas? I feel guilty that I am snatching away others chances of active participation in this rasikas.org forum, through my little knowledge of music. Please excuse me, if so.
