1st Dec 2008. 6:15 pm

karuNimpa idi - sahAnA - Adi
dEva dEva - mAyAmALavagauLA - rUpakam - ST (RNS)
mrdu bhAshaNa nata vibhIshaNa - maurva danyAsi - Adi - T
dhAriNi tElusukONTi -suddha sAvEri - Adi - T (short sketch)
parama pAvana rAmA - pUrikalyANi - Adi - RSI (RNST)
ninnEnaDa nEla - kannaDa - Adi - T (short sketch, S)
RTP - kApi - Adi tALam (tisra naDai, 2 kaLAi) 4 akshara eDuppu, 6 aksharam aridi
rAmA srI rAma srungAra sushyAmA - sAkEta nAbhA sItA manObhi -

It was a good concert. It started about 20-25 min late. The AlApanai of mAyAmALavagauLa was short and sweet. The pUrikalyANi was done leisurely and with a lot of grandeur. The kApi was good. The kriti renditions were good and all sangatis did come out very well. The neraval and svarams were all good as well. The accompanists were good and matched up to the main artist. I had to leave during the Pallavi

Bharath,

Who is her guru? The third song is a new one for me...

Shouldn't it be sAkEta nAthA in the pallavi of the RTP?

Smt. Manda Sudharani, I think, is her Guru.

the third song sounded a lot like phalamanjari in slow tempo at many places. www.karnatik.com says the song is in maurvadanyAsi

she hails from Andhra. Infact, the 'bit-notice' they distributed at the venue said all of the artists who performed that day were from Tirupati.

The pallavi line goes as:

rAmA srI rAma srungAra sushyAmA - sAkEta dAmA sItA manObhi

After the RTP, she sang rA rA chinnanA and the thillana in Valaji by Smt Lalitha Sivakumar

All the three of them are Lecturers at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi.

She is a disciple of Smt.Manda Sudharani garu.

Vandana,Komanduri Venkata Krishna and Kothapalli Ramesh are all, faculty of Tirupati Music college.

Mridu Bhashana is a Thyagaraja krithi in Maruva Dhanyasi. It is a janyam of Karaharapriya.

K Vandana stands for Kothapalli Vandana i thought.

are the vocalist and mridangist related to each other?

Her singing reminded me of Vidushi Panthula Rama. Somehow, it strikes me as somewhat "ruthless" (especially the tone :| ). MMG was very good, this style suits it. Purvi kalyani was good too. The kApi wasn't bad either.

The kApi and Purvi kalyANi were elaborate.

The shuddha sAvEri could have been sung in a more leisurely fashion, I felt.

Could it be the lightning fast staccato brighas?
