Sankari Krishnan's concert at Vani Mahal began with Andolika varnam of her Guru, Lalgudiji, which I have not heard often. A good beginning to a wholesome concert I would say. This was followed by Kanjadalayatakshi in Kamalamanohari. We were treated with a calm and composed Bhairavi ragam followed by lalithe shree pravrude, one of Saint Tyagaraja's Lalgudi Pancharatnam. The bhava filled kalpanaswaram for teliyeni....was soothing and soul stirring. Her main was an RTP in Sankarabaranam. The traditional and pristine approach was amazingly leisurely followed by a detailed thanam and a crisp yet complex pallavi. It was very well followed by Sherthalai Shivakumar on the violin. Sankari handled the RTP with astounding ease. After an hour long main, she concluded her recital with misrashivaranjani tillana of her Guru. On the whole, the entire concert was bhava oriented and stole our hearts. Her pantantra sudham was evident throughout the concert. Apart from Shivakumar, she was very well supported by A.S. Ranganathan, mrudangam and K.V.Gopalakrishnan on the Kanjira.

nice to find that there is already a thread on Sankari Krishnan's music. I happened to listen to her National Programme in AIR on 13/12/2008. Her madyamavathi ragam and Rama Katha sudha was mesmerising. Her rendition of Kanada thillana of Lalgudi was great I think. Did any one listen to the programme
