The 22+ hours videos of Mridangam lessons, a must for all aspiring students of Mridangam is available online at http://www.kalakendra.com/shopping/adva ... uksrasikas

This is truly a Magnum Opus production, starting with a 7 10 hour days of shooting, supported a great team of dedicated musicians and technicians who worked in great synergy. I take pride in being part of the team that has meticulously put together such a wonderful product for posterity of the Legends great Art.

Support of every rasika for the success of this venture is required to ensure more such documentation continue to happen.

Comparing the doyen UKS to pele and maradOnA ( certainly there is a hand of God ;) ) was very apt .

Given here is the post from ramsabode... I thought of giving the link alone, but, when I myself tried to open the link, it took much time(bsnl?)...

Ram, does your abode needs a flyover or a subway? Heavy traffic?
So I did the copy and paste (also done paste and cop(fee)y after a kutty nap)... over to ram... :) :)

*******************************************************

The fingers dance gracefully on the mrudangam producing crystal clear beats soaked in divine nadham making one wonder whether the instrument being played is the mrudangam or a perfectly tuned string instrument. As the maestro unleashes a breathless roll puncuated by appropriate strokes at the appropriate places, the only other sound one can hear in the packed Music Academy hall is that of the unforgiving Roland Rhythm box playing out the 16 beat cycle (Adi tALam 2 kalai) at 90 pulses per second. Exquisite rhythmic patterns follow in different nadais, some at unthinkable speeds with utmost clarity. The enormity of this task is realizable only when one sits down with a rhythm box and tries to play complex patterns in different nadais to the beats maintained by it. If playing to the rhythm box itself is difficult, imagine the challenge to get every syllable at the place where it should be in the tala cycle! Needless to say rasikas and artists in the audience sit wonderstruck, for they are yet again witnessing the "Sivaraman Effect"

Nagraj

Thanks for the stills. The second picture reminds me of the olden days Indian movie sets.
