Dear Rasikas,

Our Admin informed me through mail that he would like to have an informal meeting with the Rasikas at Chennai on 19.11.2011[Saturday] in the morning or afternoon. Mrs Pavithra Ramakrishnan will also be attending the meeting.

Saturday may be a working day for many of the Rasikas in Chennai.

Chennai Rasikas can give their opinion regarding the above timing.

Even though the meeting is to be informal, any particular points that may be brought to the notice of our Admin can be indicated in the thread.

We all can have a lunch or dinner depending on the time.

All Rasikas can meet at my home.

You are most welcome to our Global Rasikas Meet 2011 to be held on 18.12.2011[SUNDAY] from 09.30 to 12.30.

As indicated by MR.Nick and Arasi madam, only vegetarian meals will be provided after the meet.

For a change, you can taste a simple vegetarian meals with all the Rasikas.

However, if you are particular to have non veg only, perhaps MR.Nick may help you by taking you to a non veg hotel.

Nageswaran sir had extended his kind invite to me for this year's get-together. However, I won't be in Chennai until 25th Dec, so will miss the meet this time.
I plan to be in Chennai 25-31st Dec. Hope I get to meet some of our old rasika friends (and other new ones too...) and enjoy the good music.

Some wishful thinking. There are quite a number of places with sizeseble rasikas not able to partitcipate in chennnai. Why cant they also meet at the same time i n n there plase and get to know each other. Eny slifish, benefit is a bonus May Sri Rama bless yo all

Respected veeyens,

The main reason for holding the Rasikas meet at Chennai during the month of December
is that many overseas Rasikas visit ChENNAI during the music season and I have used this opurtunity
to convene the Rasikas meet last year and planning to have such a meeting this year also.

I would be happy if the Rasikas located in various places in the globe and hold such informal meet among themselves.

For my part, when I visited Bangalore, I have arranged a Rasikas informal meet at Bangalore
and this was held at our Rasika cienu's home recently.

I understand that Dr.Nedunuri Krishnamurthy will be here on 17th December to receive an award from Indian Fine arts. He will not be performing any concerts during this Dec. Fest. Can we request him to join our meet and share his experiences? If forumites like the idea, I can try talking to him.Please give your opinion. Or do we just make the whole meet an interaction only with fellow rasikas?

Radha Bhaskar: Great idea--he is one of the most Rasika-friendly musicians in my opinion!! My only fear is that in my planned mock-imitation of artistes,I may not be able to imitate him!!!!!!!

It will be a wonderful Rasikas meet if MRS.Radha Bhaskar is able to arrange SRI Nedanoorigaru’s participation.

Sri AM Sharma, one of our senior member had accompanied Sri Nedanooriguru in many concerts in Andhra Pradesh.

Perhaps Sri AM Sharmaji can initiate an interactive session with him which will be as interesting as
the interactive session we had last year with Sri Trichy Sankaran, courtesy Sri VKV[cacm].

I hope all the Rasikas will also endorse my opinion.

I request MRS.Radha Bhaskar to contact Sri Nedanoorigaru and find his availability for his participation.

He has confirmed about the informal meeting of the Chennai Rasikas with him on 19.11.2011[Saturday] at 06.00 PM

I hope many of the Global Rasikas would have already planned their visit to India for the December music festival in Chennai.

3. Wecome speech by Sri S.Nageswaran.

4. Individual introductions of the Rasikas who will inform his forum ID, Real Name, where he is located at present, brief information’s about the Rasika.

6. Further introductions of the Rasikas if all the Rasikas'introductions are not completed before the tea break.

7. Presidential address and entertainment by him.

8. Group photo and video coverage of the Rasikas with the VIPS.

9. Vote of thanks by Sri Mudhra Bhaskar.

Re' my entertainment" presentation,because it will a sort of "imitation-is-the-best-form-of flattery-type" presentation I will try to get a feel for the audience's sensitivities before. However I will stick to your time schedule .

I am excited to be meeting hopefully new rasikas that I did not get to meet 2 years back!!

You mean, Sundara Rajan is back now, after a spell of not posting. I'm happy about it too.
Thanks for recognizing our ilk. You have to remember that you folks are capable of appreciating andak kAlattu musicians more than us at times and we in turn have the capacity to look up to some indakkAlattu performers. It goes to prove that the labels are there for us to know which period they come from. A tyAgarAjA kruti sounds just as indak kAlam as it sounded in andak kAlam. So too the songs sung by vidvAns and vidUshis of all times!

I know you didn't mean to leave out CML and others--haven't seen any posts of his lately...

I am just a simple rasika who had the privilege of listening live to the old stalwarts of carnatic music, 1948 to 1960, as well as the young popular artists who come here to the US to perform. It will indeed be a pleasure to meet you all in Madras, that is now Chennai. I do post in these columns occasionally, but I have enjoyed and learned a lot more from the web site.

Is Dr.Nedunuri attending the meet pls?

He is the guide to my sons ( VinayRahul) music career and we follow his advise in shaping my sons music and educational career. He has released my sons 1st CD - Music for posterity - released by Abhyudaya foundation, Kakinada.

His presence and advise for musicians and Rasikas will be a great and wonderful movement in case he accepts to attend.

Here is a plea echoing Mr>Nageswaran's concerns about the response to the meet.While I understand people from abroad or outside of Chennai may not find it worthwhile to make a special trip to Chennai just for the meet, I would hope residents in and around Chennai sould make every effort to attend--I cannot believe the ten or so people who have responded are from Chennai alone--some of them are from out of town like myself.
I earnestly urge Rasikas to particpate--otherwise all my assiduous practice for the entertainment item to be presented by me would go waste!!.Please do not get scared--I am not going to "impose" a mini concert on innocent,unsuspecting rasikas !!!.

By the way has the venue been finalised--the German Hall in T'Nagar?

If even two or three people get together and enjoy conversation and company, it will be a success. Ten or more people will be more than three times the success. Absolute numbers is not a measure of the day --- but it does impact on the practical side of preparations.

Folks: I need to know the venue because I am inviting people known to me ardent rasikas who are not aware of the forum.Also there is a plan to celebrate Palghat Mani Iyer's centenary in Jan 2012 towards the end of Jan 2012 in Chennai(Music Academy) and end of feb 2012 in Mumbai under the Shanmukhananda aegis. my brother Sekhar,palghat Rajamony and P.C.Ramakrishna along with Umayalpuram Sivaraman,Karaikudi Mani and Balaji of the Hindu Family have informally formed a Committee. On behalf of the forum I had suggested our meet would be a good venue to make announcements.hence i need to know the venue. Spoke to Mr.Nageswaran yesterday(he is in Pune)--unfortunately I did not ask him about the venue.

I will be tied up from Dec 09th to 23rd and I will skip the 2 week season . I have a Very hectic official work with visitors and also have a very personal commitment .I will not come for Arasi and Gamakam's function , may try to sneak in for about half an hour during rasikas meet on Dec 18th(slim chance....)

I will hopefully find a way to hand over the Yadugiri books thru some one so that each of you can get it during rasikas meet , the book is priced 50 Rs each. I have totally 100 copies with me.

Best wishes for all fanta-fabulous musicians and rasikas for having a great concert experience during the next 2 weeks

1.The new venue for our Global Rasikas meet will be at my home;

The change of the venue is due to the non availabity of the Ramakrishna School Hall which was reserved for the table tennis tournament for the students of the school [Confirmed by MRS. Radha Bhaskar of the MUDHRA Sabha].

The directions for reaching my home will be;

From Panagal Park in T.Nagar, Doraisami Sub Way, Thambaiyya Reddy road left turn, third right turn street. My home will be on the RHS of the Road.
I will try to provide a Google map for the directions.

If MRS. Priyadharshini.P and MRS. Emilija can indicate as to where they will be staying in Chennai, I can give the directions to reach my home

talks of some fear of alienating fan base . and much more nonsense.
