They need not flip through all the earlier concert reviews. You can also write each concert review as a new topic. This will be better if you are writing exhaustive reviews of each concert. Reg #50 of Shri Vasanthakokilam, the asst secy you have referred must be Shri S Swaminathan, I presume who is the son of late shri Sethurama Iyer one of the pillars of PSS since 1931. You may use your good offices to locate the rare treasure of photographs if it is in his possession sothat such permanent records will never get lost. As regs to starting new topic, will definitely be taken care and there are only two more concerts left. Today Shri SS' keerthanas and on Tuesday Oothukadu.

The concert started at 19 10 after observing silence for 2 mts in honour of Mandolin Srinivas
Excellent selection of the songs . IMO clarity of lyirics is lacking. The begada kriti is exact replica of MD's Vallabanayagasaya . Poorvi kalyani was well handled by both. Mirudhangam thani was good.. As usual sundal prasadam distributed at the end.

It is admirable that you're taking the pains to attend and review all these concerts in North Chennai. Thank you. I too agree with C Rama. It's possible you couldn't make out the kritis, as the acoustics of the hall may not have been on par. Also your knowledge of Swathi Thirunal compositions seems less than optimal, as evidenced from your listing. The artiste shared a recording of the concert with me. This is the concert list

Considering that you aren't very well acquainted with the Maharaja's works, it isn't prudent to make random statements like "The begada kriti is exact replica of MD's Vallabanayagasaya". Apart from the fact that, as C Rama pointed out, it's a fully madhyamakala kriti, "Karunakara" has 3 charanams (of which the artiste sang the 1st and 3rd), whilst "Vallabhanayakasya" is a samashti charana kriti. The entire structure is different!!

The concert started at 18 50 hrs and came to a close at 20 40 hrs. Kalyani and Bhairavi were treat to ears. Violinist gave an excellent support and so the mirudhangam. I could see an eversilver pot with a tumbler to my surprise this time.

My obseravation
Excellent song selection and all well rendered. The concert started at 19 15 hrs since the artistes arrived at 19 00 hrs only.
Parivadini team was present at 18 30 hrs with their gadgets. Shri sankaranarayanan sought the Rasikas apology for two things. 1 For his late arrival though he started by 16 30 hrs could reach the venue after 2 and half hrs only the time taken to reach Tirupathi from chennai. 2. As he was not prepared for the Oothukadu keerthanas, he would render regular kritis dedicated to Ambal being the first day of Navarathri. Syama was good and the Begada niraval and swraprastharam were excellent. The violinist gave a very good support and his Begada and Kalyani were note worthy. Mirudhangam Thani avarthanam was enjoyed by all. Finally in the vote of thanks, Secretary specially thanked the Parivadini team for their wonderful coverage of a concert in North Chennai. This will be available on U tube tomorrow. As usual prasadam at the end.
