Hai all, it seems the posts in 'C' are stopped yesterday. Feel we should start the 'D' now.
I am giving my list
Deenuda nenu devudavu neevu - Annamayya - Tuned soulfully by Sri Nedunuri; sung movingly by none other than MSS and also Nedunuri. This song equals one more gem of Annamayya - Nanati Bratuku, which is again a Nedunuri and MSS special.
Dudukugala - Panchratna krithi
Daya joochuta kidi velara - Tyagaraja
Dakshinamurthe - MD

hey
- no problem. It doesnt have to be my decision every time. As soon as activity on the thread is down for a day or two (the threshold seems to be 40 odd posts), anyone can start it.
Mine:
1. dAcukOvalEna (alathur, particularly neraval at saumitri tyAgarAjuni) - tODi - misra jhampa - tyAgarAja
1.5 dakshiNAmUrte (SSI) - love the fit for miSra jhampa - Sankarabharanam - MD - SSI
2. dEvi bRova samayamidE - cintAmaNi - Adi - SSI. Love KVN's but also am mesmerized by MSS just rendering the krithi alone - a superb fit for her golden voice.

Can there be any other choice but MDR's rendition of the grand Dorakuna Ituvanti Seva in Bilahari, especially his sublime rendition of the rarely sung "Thumburu Naradulu" charanam in Vilambita kalam?
Santhanams version of this krithi is pretty impressive too. I never liked S Ramanathan's version though, unfortunately.
Apart from that, it would be Sivan's Dayavillaya Dayalo - Kharaharapriya (Santhanam), and of course the beautiful Dudhukugala pancaratnam. I am still looking for an alleged recording of MDR singing that.

And something I picked up today: This polish folk song seems to be the inspiration for dil tadap tadap ke keh rahaa hai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82bBMxNF9AEknandago2001 wrote: and how can I forget dil tadap tadap ke keh rahaa hai http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te0ZdZ1ndyw

CML: It is not an error in chronology. That particular performance is from '86 but from what I gather it is an old polish folk song, often learnt by kids there.
Here is one that sounds even closer ( also its samashti charanam
reminds me of one of MD's nottuswara compositions )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5gEA5ThUyg ( search for 'Szła dzieweczka do laseczka' in youtube to see all sorts of versions of this song from polish family gatherings, school functions and roadside gatherings and this bit of a comedic vocal version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEPNSwnaz_8 )

Well, the second part of that polish song definitely has a lot of resemblance to Sakthi sahitha which we all (loosely) categorize under s'baranam : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOuG1vlMGFo
( from what I read up, it looks like Salil Chowdhury has acknowledged and given credit to that polish folk song as the model for dil taDap )

LOTS of favorites in this category:
1) dASarathE - tODi - tyAgarAja (Smt. MSS version - I get everything from this - the grandeur of tODi, the abject devotion of the composer etc. etc. etc.)
2) dEvi brOva - cintAmaNi - SS (Smt. MSS version)
3) dEvi mIna nEtri - SankarAbharaNam - SS (TNS' version)
5) dInOvA rAjyahInOvA - Valmiki - rAgamAlika (a passage from the rAmAyaNa - a passionate declaration by sItA that even if rAma where distressed, stripped off his kingdom, etc., she would still be by his side every second. She invokes all the pativratas and their husbands and declares that, like them, she too shall remain ever faithful. Every time I hear this by Smt. MSS, I feel shaken)
4) dikku teriyAda kATTilE - Bharatiyar (I love Sri Santanam's version)
5) deiva tamizh nATTinilE veNNilAvE - a rAgamAlikA composition of Sri Kalki's in praise of Bharatiyar (stirringly sung by Smt. MSS)
On the filmi front, dil lUTnE vAlE jAdUgar (a very poor video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gjc5L2qD ... e=related), darSan dO ghanSyAm nAth mOre ankhiyAn pyAsI rE (dES) - one of the best filmi bhajans I have heard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UYtyMXwEuo), and a lovely yaman - dil jhukAyA tO sar kO jhukAnA hOgA

Thank u so very much for this lovely track of RK. I had heard his version on Chennai AIR Concert long long back. Since then, i love this song rendered by him. This song appeals much more than manasA yetulu of thyagaraja.

Ravi, darsan so ghanashyam in des?
It is one of the most famous and popular compositions of Narsi Mehta og Gujarat which is in kedar. It is also taught to almost every student of hindustani music when they learn the rag kedar. It is known to be gem of kedar.... Anyway, maybe it was retuned...
By the way, which film was it in?
