Please post your favorite song that starts with e/E.

Note this is e as in enduku..., and E as ETi.... Do not list songs that start with the "ee" as in meet - that would come later under i/I

Try to limit your choice to one song if possible, or say up to 2-3 songs. If possible, please indicate why you like it (personal, analytical etc.). Please include raga, tala and composer info if you have it, and info on where people can listen to it - but watch out for commercial recording abuse!

Here is a (probably not fully comprehensive) listing of the krithis by Trinity (and others) which can be used to jog your memory:

No Brainer for me- Endaro Mahanubhavulu !!!!
I like this song very much, rendered by Various great vocalists and instrumentalists.
My most most most favorite rendition however is from the film Thyagaiyah !!Very simply sung, but also very sweetly.

I also like Evaritho Manavathi and Era Napai (Thodi Varnam) and Enta mantramuna evvaru talachina .

1. endarO - difficult to place anything above a majestic piece in a majestic raga.
2. ekkAlattilum maRavEnE (rAmaswAmy sivan) - this is a sentimental favorite. I love the poetry.
3. enna tavam seidanai - kApi at its emotive best (although the one starting with J is even more special to me)

VK Raman: That is fantastic. I enjoyed listening to your two recordings very much. I was calling out 'balE', 'sabAsh' and 'Nice' whenever you hit some key Mohanam phrases very adroitly with great sruthi suddham, sahitya enunciation and bhAvam.

Enduku Nirdaya- Harikambodhi-Tyagaraja
Ehi Sri Jagadeesa- Saaranga-Tyagaraja

These kritis sound lovely sung by anyone - so take your pick! There should be a nice Voleti version of the former, and I think one of MS Amma, of the latter? But I don't have the links.

Ennerum Vaaruvar endru sonaval, Nee thane
if anyone knows the raga of this beautiful song please say.

But endaro is over played, even if sri raga is still one of my favourite ragas.

Enneramum by MS Subbhalakshmi is a nice version.
However on youtube there is a caucasian girl in university who sang it at Wesleyan University. Her name is Raphaellle Brochet. That version made my mom cry. She sang that song better than anyone can.

My choices

Hatchback:

1. Enneramum Undan - tops my list. Had really grown to like John Higgins' version of it in my early years of CM listening
2. Eppadi Padinaro - another long time favourite that often suffers my brutal bathroom treatment :) - first heard this in DKP's voice in 'isai amudam' a program of carnatic music in Radio Ceylon in my school days I think
3. EtIruga nanu - Have always loved BMK's version

Mid Size:

1.Enna Tavam Seidanai - LGJ's version never fails to blow me away
2. EnnaLLu Urake

Full Size Sedan: EtAvunara, Eti Janmamidi ha

Luxury Saloon: Evari Maata

suruTTi - it is a beautiful padam lyrically and musically...rendered very nicely by Neeraja in an audio (bharatanATyam) CD (under the direction of Sri BMK who composed the music for all the pieces in the CD and the lyrics for some as well). But the song should be on the list for songs that begin with 'i' - it goes 'innEram varuvAr enru SonnavaL nI dAnE' (aren't you the same one who told me that he would come here at this time, my friend?)
