Under the auspicious of Sri Krishna Fine Arts, Nanganallur a concert of Vid. Vasudha Kesav was organised on 9th August 2009 at Sri Varasidhi Vinayakar Sath Sangam Hall in Nanganallur.
The song list as follows :
1) Varnam-Andolika
2) Srimahaganapathi -Gowla
3) Sri Parthasarathy-Shudha Danyasi
4) Gangeyavasana-Hamirkalyani
5) Itisamayamu Brova Rada-Natakapriya
6) Orajupuju-Kannadagowla
7) Raksha Bettare-Bhairavi
8) Thunga Theera Virajam
9) Innudaya Bharathe
10) Mangalam
It was a very nice concert and from the start it was a nice take off with perfect sruti alignment with excellent support from Pakala Ramadas providing the neccessary cushion for the main artiste to explore the wide vistas. Especially Shuddha Danyasi, Natakapriya and Bhairavi ragas had rich classical touch and the artiste immersed herself in bhava and sophisticated musical appeal. I have always appreciated about this aritiste's unstinted commitment towards classical ideals and this concert also was no exception to that ideal. Her raga essays were full of bhava and pregnant with creative ideas, her kriti renditions were marked with pathantara Shudha and dignity, her niraval and swaraprastharas had sophisticated phrases. At the end of Bhairavi piece she made an excellent korvai for 192 aksharas and it goes thus :
5 + 5 + 5
6 + 6 + 6
7 + 7 + 7
15 + 15 + 15
10+ 10 + 10
5 * 3
7 * 3
9 * 3.

Excellent technical review Balaji sir.. especially the kanakku aspect is very educative for novices like me. Have listened to your concerts and have enjoyed your playing which is replete with sowkhyam and brilliance. Have been reading through your reviews in this forum and all of them hit the bulls eye without meandering with words. It is a very good practice that you are reviewing fellow artists (a rare act..) which would encourage them. Keep it up . All the best
