Dr.Smt.Nithyashree Mahadevan - Vocal

A brilliant 3 and half hour concert by Smt.Nithyashree which was dedicated to her Grandmother Sangeetha kalanidi D.K Pattammal.

There was a CD srelease of SRIDEVI kritis of Smt.Nithyashree at the start of function.

Sarva managala maangalye - slokam
followed by Mangala gowri mampahi - Karnataka Shuddha Saveri - Yagneshabattadri - from the cd released

pallavi was "Kamalamanohari sivagama bagheshwari jaya vijayanaagari'
followed by swaras in anandhabhairavi,ranjani,dwijavanti,jaganmohini.nilaambari,bhairavi,lalita,saraswati,gaurimanohari,kanagaangi,mohanakalyaani,durga,

Tondru nighazndha - Bhairavi -bharatiyaar
Viruttam Kulam tharum selvam tarum followed by Janani janani - Revati
Bhagyadalakshmi - Purandaradaasa
Abhayambaa - sree - Muthuswamy dikshithar Words in sanskrit, telegu, tamizh.

Once again a briliant powerful concert by Smt Nithyashree.
Each one was a brilliant rendering and it was hard to seperate the songs to decide which was good.

The aalaap for dhanyasi and kalyani was superb .The swarams were a typical Nithyashree trademark with ekachakka kanakku vazhakku.

Telisi rama was a fast number sung beautifully while Sivaganga and tondru nigaznda were rendered soulfully.

The piece of the day was RTP.What a permutation combination of the 3 main raga back and forth. It left me spell bound
For Navaratri she sang swarams in ragamalika in different ragam ending the swaram with the ragam name of all the devis. It was iinovative and wonderful ragamalika as I would not have identified some raagams if she dint end the swaram with ragam name.

Violin by Krishnaswami and Mridhangam by Skandasubramaniam and ghatam by Shivaramakrishnan were good supporting Nithyashree perfectly.

Can some one give me the words for the mangalam written in 3 languages by muthuswami dikshitar.

It was a wonderful soulful performance.

It was after the performance that Smt Nithyashree told us that she had landed from Toronto on Thursday and came to Bombay on Friday and she was terribly jet lagged.

It was an amazing effort on her part where she never for a second showed her tiredness .

I would request experts in this form to give the name of the composers of the song which I have left out.

I am now looking forward to her programme on Oct 24th in Fine arts chembur ,which she said was in aid of cancer patients.

Anandabhairavi - thanks for that review...the pallavi for the RTP I think would have been 'kamalAmanOhari siva vAmabhAgESvari jaya vijayanAgari' ....

abhayAmbA is one of the maNiprvALa kritis attributed to MD that is in dispute wrt to its provenance.

RShankar sir. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. She sang as "Sivavama" only but I thought I heard it wrong and made a mistake in noting it as 'Sivagama" which was more familiar to me.Can you tell me the meaning of Sivavama ??

Distinguished one, whose hands offer refuge to Her devotees, Ishvari protect me with Your kindness.

Thanks. Rishi
