Does anyone know of a Hindustani musician called Lalitha who used to reside in Bangalore, and another (carnatic, i think) called Subramanian (Mani) who lived in Bombay (brother of Lalitha). This Subramanian was a good friend of Aruna Sayeeram, was the brother of Lalitha, and passed away a couple of years ago. Their mother's name was Syamala.
Also, does anyone know about one K P Ramakrishnan (Ramu), who was a very close friend of the flautist Mali.
I'm just trying to trace some of my distant relatives.
Cheers

Ninja,
Good to hear from you! You kindly invited us all from the forum to your wedding, but couldn't be there in Chennai at that time. Two years ago?
I just brought your name up a few days ago in a thread! The name Kalpathy came up, and I said, is it Ninja who said Kalpathy Ramanathan the mrudangist was his grandfather? Sorry, I do not know the answers to your questions, but you may answer my question now!

Hi Arasi,
No, Kalpathy Ramanathan is not my grandfather! Must have been someone else.
I'm sorry for not participating for the last year and a half. Lots of things have happened in between, foremost being the death of my father last October, suddenly. Things have just started getting back to normal.
From the active discussions, I see this forum has faced controversies and joyful discussions in equal proportion!!!!
A big hello to all of you!!!
Cheers

Ninja,
Sorry I was mistaken. Sorry to hear about your father.
The forum is as active as ever, more members, more interesting topics and yes, a few storms in the tea cup, a few exits, but hope discords are not permanent and we soon see the return of the native (s)!
Good to hear from you after a long spell.

Re: Details Required
Arasi: Just found this thread randomly, while looking for something else...
No, that person is me. My grandfather is Kalpathi Ramanathan and yes, my grand-aunt Meenakshi athai would have been your music teacher in school! Maybe we spoke about this in another thread or when we met briefly at the meeting of rasikas in December?
Glad to see that my grand-aunt, wonderful lady that she was, has inspired a vaggeyakkara like yourself.
Ninja, my much belated but most sincere condolences.

Mahavishnu,
Yes, we did talk about your great aunt when we met at Rasikas meeting.
After all these years, I still remember your great-aunt's warmth and presence. You are charming too, coming from that family
Ninja the great,
Hope you are doing fine and visit Rasikas.org occasionally. Please post once in a while!
