This is my first live concert experience of bharath kumar.The concert was advertised where in K .Gayathri had to sing, but since she was not feeling well the slot went to bharath(son of smt suguna varadAchari).I was late to join half way of nAttai and there was some good volley of swaras from both violinist and vocalist.
bilahari was quite detailed , though the alApanai did not flow too freely, the krithi and swaras were just ok to good . THe next YK kAMbOdhi just bought a lot of emotive weight and bharath sang very well. The submain was a tough uphill varAli and there was a very clean alApanai and krithi , the neraval could have had more of gAndhara piDi of a typical varAli. Takka filler was quite good.
The main was a well tested and quite internalized by many musicians , the alApana piDi was in and out nAdaswara piDi and was well done with very good madhyamakAla touch. The krithi usually takes off like a concorde, but bharath's voice just did not open out that much, but however from anupallavi onwards there was quite a demonstration of vidwat and exuberance .Neraval had its pluses , what a wonderful line this bhairavi just oozes out with so much musical excellence in this neraval line .The swaras were quite good , he could have gone little more mElkAlam too.
In the tukkadas the pasuram was simply excellent ,I am slowly liking more when tukkadas have more musical and lyrical quotient (arasi should be pleased) and pasuram is perfect for me,in particular this pasuram took me on a tour to few temples like tirukkadaiyur etc...The last thillana was just good.
Accompanist role was uplifting the concert .The strokes of palakkad raghu azhuttam was always there with kallidakurichi with a nice use of thoppi.I did not pay much attention to tani . The violinist is slowly and steadily raising over the years ,support had kashmiri (nope kanyakumari) azhuttam and his returns were apt and nice.
Few shortcomings of bharath:

1. Bharath is perhaps a musician who must have learnt maximum from his mother smt sugunA varadachari and I am assuming with sanjay it is more of branding . To an extent his music when centered like suguna varadachari say in a pasuram or so appears well rounded . But during neraval and swaras there is a bit of sanjayism it is slight not as much as say sandeep narayan, and few sangathis in the reach of packing more power he loses a bit of steam.
2. Swaras can be much more than what was exhibited today, also his diction can be more clean, found it at few places not very clean and coherant.
Nevertheless a nice first impression. I am sure with smt suguna v's training and guidance he will reach a zone of excellence quite sooner than later.OVerall this 2 hours and 15 minutes concert can be tagged as good to very good concert.

i had gone to this concert and stayed till the main bhairavi.
It was a good concert. He did a very good job at his task. The kriti renditions were good and apt. The choice of kriti was nice too. The elaborations of the ragams were suited for the mood of the kritis that came up later. The neraval svaram parts were all done well also. The accompanists were very good and did a good job in raising the concert to a more enjoyable state.
