1. Tunga Teera Virajam - I have two recent CD's that list the composer of this song as Ananda Dasa (Sangeetha Sivakumar - Tunga Tarange) and Krishnamachar (Paddhatti1 983 - MVS). I had it as Kamalesha Vittala. The song has the Kamalesha mudra.
2. Gnana Vinayakane in Gambheera Nattai by Ulundurpettai Shanmukham. Another CD days Saravana Bhavananda is the composer.
3. Kandan Karunai: Guhan or N.S. Chidambaram?
4. Sri Mahaganapathe in Nattai: Mayuram Viswanatha Sastri or Sivasakthi?
thanks.

2. Pass to LJi ???
3. Kandan Karunai Puriyum Vadivel is by guhan
4. shree mahaganapathE in nAttai is by mayuram vishwantha sastri only. Possibly there is a shri chakraraja in shivasakthi that confused the casette cover publisher.

Guhan and NS Chidambaram are two different personalities for sure .Guhan's original name is KS Ramaswami.Lakshman wrote:jnAna vinAyakanE sharaNam is by Sharavanabhavananda, another name for N.S.Chidambaram.
I am also leaning towards the notion that Guhan is another name for NSC.
Kandan karunai puriyum Vadivel in Bheemplas made famous by Madurai Mani Iyer is set to the tune of Beena madhura madhura from the Hindi film `Ram Rajya'. It was the composition of K.S. Ramaswami who wrote plays and songs under the pen-name `Guhan'.

Actually I was present when MMI described in detail his seeing "RAM RAJYA" & if I am not mistaken Veena Mathura Mathura was the source of his inspiration to set the tune. There have been similar instances of SIVAN writing a song after hearing a song & summoning DKP to his house to teach her the song "fresh off the oven"? the same day......VKV

Lakshman, Rajesh,
Guhan's name was Ramaswami? How would I know? He was our beloved Radio Mama, Guhan mama--running radio programs for children, Papa Malar and and BAlar malar--one for tots and another for older children on saturdays and sundays. I was all admiration for him. He wrote songs, scripts for mini plays and snippets. I was a regular for a few years and got to act in plays and sing solos too. He was a father figure and appealed to children both on and off the air. He encouraged us to write too.
For the Mahatma's anjali, he wrote this song and I sang it:
Santa svarUpi, sattiya jOti. sAtviga mUrty mahAtmA gAndhi namakkena vAzhndE namakkena iRandAr
namkkE ulagil tani madippaLittAr
tamakkena vAzhA tava muni avarai
santatam ninaindE darumattai vaLArppOM!
I also think DKP's karam candra mOhana dAs gAndi was his composition. The very well known Santi nilava vENDum too?
I have a feeling pazhani Vijayalakshmi is his niece.

So arasi , you sang this difficult song when you were a kid , kind of shows the early spark that you had . You also acted in plays , I guess everything is easy to you. You can write more in arasi thread along with your progress of arasi's notationsarasi wrote: I was a regular for a few years and got to act in plays and sing solos too

Lakshman,
Your namesake's name does not ring a bell. Then again, it was a long time ago! Guhan mama certainly was the one who was there when I participated in the program. He was the one who wrote songs and scripts, rehearsed with us and was there all the time. Was Lakshman the producer or was he before or after my time there?
We also had specials when a few outsiders presented programs. We rehearsed for them ahead of time. I starred (!) in writer Vasavan's one such pongal (?) specials. Rajesh, remind me to tell you of an incident connected with this program when we meet
Kannamma! A smart woman. Of course I knew her (family connections) and she moved to Delhi AIR and was in charge of the thamizh international services programs (whatever they called them). I met her there after many years there when I happened to be in Delhi and she asked me to give a humorous talk in her program. I met her again after a long period of time in Bangalore at a cousin's house where she was staying during her indian trip. Do you keep in touch? Would be nice to speak to her after so amny many years.
That song with the viruttam karam candra leading to:
koDumadiyALar tam koDumaigaL sahittAi...viDudalai tandAi, emakkaruL tandAi, muDivilA kIrti peTRAi bApuji was on the flip side of DKP's SAnti nilava vENDum if I'm not mistaken, and that's what made me think it was Guhan's, perhaps.
CML might remember this.
Pazhani Vijayalakshmi had a very nice voice, gave concerts and has also sung for films. I cannot think of a song right now.

Yes Punarvasu ji
There was a Radio Anna.I think he is called Koothapiran too,who was featured on the cover of Samudra magazine a couple of months back."Pappa malar" on Sundays and "Muthukkuvial" on Saturdays,in the early '60s.Herein was featured Radio Anna's Balaramayanam sung by one A.C.Jayasree.She used to sing very well.
