This man is not 89 years OLD he is still young . TOUCH WOOD he sustains every swara without any signs of aging.

Right from the first swaram to the last chaapu to end the mangalam it was an EXPERIENCE.. There was music , Music and only music everywhere around. It happened at the venus colony Asthika samajam .

DSRGR manasunilpa [:)] he established this pattern and built the swaras on this... Enthavedukonthu , as everyone knows is a complete thaara sthaayee krithi , and Srikantan sir handles this with a great ease... One could easily sense the krithi to follow when he was rendering the raagam. It was amazingly suggestive.. As i expected it was VARAMU OSaGI.. Amzing neraval @ Madhana Janaka venkatesha .. and swaraprasthaaraa. Sri. Sriramkumar gave amazing replies in keeravaani.

The thani was special.. Rupaka thaalam (1kalai) a rare choice for thani. was very well handled by the percussionists .. Raja rao sir's thoppi started to sing as the thani began , He played madhana janaka on his thoppi. It was great.... And K.V. gopalakrishan played a korvai starting from samam ( Its very difficult to think of such korvai in this thaalam ) Kudos.... Then nadai chosen was thisram.. Well elaborated by Sri. Raja Rao and Gopalakrishan.. Korappu and the final korvai were befitting. The concert was concluded with 2 dasar padas (if im not wrong) . One of them was in sindubairavi.. To conclude mangalam koshalendhraaya slokam was sung in Madyamavathi . and followed by Pavamaana..

Do not worry. During this month, around 1000-1500 concerts are being performed in Chennai. Those who attend, do not have time to write the review because they attend more concerts and have no time to write or reply.

I attended this. It was a great concert. Not even slight "dull" moment in the whole concert. Srimushnam's second concert, for me, during this season. He along with Vasan in Ghatam played a brilliant Tani in Malladi Brothers concert in MA mini hall last week. Here also, he was.

I happened to read an interview in Nadhabrahman of June 2009 edition. He answered like this.

"... whatever said and done, that "gauvaram" is missing in the present day concerts:

.... the main artiste should not be the object of curses by the accompanying artists, meaning that the main artists should not try to show his Vidwat at the expense of the accompanists.

..The sense of proportion in music is missing now. Vivadi rags were not sung much in those days. If at all, only the kriti would be sung and not alapanas..
---

Here is a genius, who started learning at his age 6 and still perform with perfect sruti, bhavam. Sometime back, when I met him he said he gets up at 4 AM and performs for 2 hours....

Lot has been written about him in this forum. On 16th, he is performing in Nanganallur, I think

varomulosagi is an amazing piece in Keeravani. Not often sung as ther eare others like
devi neeye thunai, kaligiyunte..
But my fav is varamulo after hearing this song in a TMK album.
So having RNST here is too lucky.

Abogi...I think the most effective song in this raga is manasunilpa.... again R&S here
Guys...enjoy...

Anybody has recorded it... Just for a onetime listening pleasure from a veteran.

gsastrigal, Agree with you. Being nonchennaite, it is difficult to catch up all the items here.
How one can listen and also read ... lot of time required for chennai guys.
