My thoughts
In the rendition of the immensely loved krithi ananathamrithavarshini every note and phrase was delivered with an organic sweep and remarkable resonance balancing introspection and liveliness and the result was an exceeding sweetness"¦
Bairavi - In the alapana by gradually unfolding the melodic progression, the raga's sensitivity was imprinted on every sanchara with sweeping glides within the lower and middle octaves through the tension between structure and spontaneity establishing identity in convincing terms. The krithi came with an artful blend of lyrical grace and melody with an authentic and personal expression of faith with a gentle fleetness - a lovely account of the composer’s personal vision"¦with neraval at ‘Parama pAvani bhavAni dEvi’beguiling the ear with sheer charm, bringing out the pensive tone by dissolving into melody with an intimacy"¦
She has a lovely voice, lots of azhuththam"¦mature music wuth great manodharma"¦

Smt. Charulatha Ramanujam was on the violin.

Was somewhat disappointed at the lack of energy in the concert. Even a raga like amirthavarshini sounded listless and dull. She really needs to vary the pace of the kritis and deliver them with more gusto to make a better impact.

I heard her @ Tagcentre when she sang for Charsur last week.Sang a convincing Mukhari (Entanine, niraval @ kanulara in a slower tempo with a lot of sowkhyam) but her Kambodhi lacked power though she built it beautifully in steps.

My earlier impression of her as someone very promising is slowly fading.

Her earlier concert @ TTD for navaratri also couldn't make any great impression.

Hope she recovers and I sincerely pray for that.

I do hope she recovers too! The gajavadana sammOdita she sang at Raga Sudha three years ago still resonates in my mind.
