It is a real 'Bhagyam' if you had the opportunity to listen to Shri T N Shesagoplan sir, on 19th Dec at Mylapore fine arts. I am short of words to describe his performance last night ,the main raga Karakarapriya was rendered with great finesse and the highlight was the Pallavi where varali and kunthavarali combination was excellent.

TNS sir could render ragam, Thanam with essence of veena strokes. When the ragam, Thanam is sung, you really wonder whether he has virtual ‘veenai mettu’s’ in this vocal cord. The gamakam and ‘Spiritham’ which is very specific to veena was so easily sung by him.
I shall just pray God to shower him long life, excellent health and we all should hear such sublime performances in future as well.

TNS sir was accompanied by Shri M.Chandrasekaran on Violin and Shri Vellore Ramabadran on Mirdangam. Ghatam by Thirupanithura Radakrishnan (?). As a seasoned artist, violin was ‘suNadam’ personified. But mirgdagam & Ghatam was good but could have been more supportive.
The list of songs are appended below for interested readers.
1. Bhairavi - Adala thala -Varnam
2. Hecharikka - Yethukula Kambodi - Thygarajar
3. Kalyana Rama -Hamsanadam-Oothukadu
4. Ramnukku Mannanmudi- Hindolam - Arunachala Kavirayar
5. Kamalambam Samrakshathu - Aananda Bhairavi - Adi - Deekshidar
6. Mithri Bhakyame - Kara Karapriya - Thygarajar
7. Giripriyam - Kathana Kuthukulam _ Muthaiya Bhagavathar
8. RTP - Kunthalavarali &Varali - Kanda Thriputai
9. Revathi - Song ?

he enthralled the jam packed audience with his karaharapriya alapana, his vocice traversed with utmost ease from mandra sthayi shadjam to athi thara sthayi shadjam. The kunthalavarlai and varali alapana was simply superb enchanting and exhilarating, what a brilliant kunthalavarali alapana thanam niraval swaram.
TNS delineated kunthalavarali with great fluency, How this artist is able to sing a small ragam like kunthalavarali in a detailed manner like a thodi kalyani or kamboji, really breathtaking!

i will fall at his feet for more than 1000times for his himalayam vidwath

the audience stayed till the end with enthusiasm and gave a standing ovation,

Mithri Bhakyame - Kara Karapriya - Thygarajar...... Never heard this song from anyone.
And kuntalavarali RTP... a surprise.
Definitely he is a champion of champion as indicated by Sanjay comparing with Sachin.

This is very often rendered by Sri. Nedunuri. Superb renderings in many concerts, few can be found in sangeethapriya, I suppose.

My impressions/ notes from the concert:

There was Kalpana swaram for Viriboni varnam.

Heccarikagaaraara had a round of swarams as well.

The Hamsanaadam alapana was out of the world. Kalyana Rama was a surprise but welcome pick! TNS played a great round of swarams for this song as well at the line 'rAghava rAmA' and MC declined the Kalpana Swaram Return opportunity as if saying 'what more can I do now'.

Mitri BhAgyamE is a firts time for me as well. NS was at 'bAgugavinta ragamulanu AlApamu sEyaga'.

RTP - TNS started with varALi first, MC played reply...and when one was expecting tAnam, TNS surprised by singing kuntala varALi again. The pallavi line was "kuTila kuntala varALidO rAdhikA manOharA SrIdharA'.

tU dayAnidhe tU dayALu was sung as a brief viruttam followed by a tulasidas bhajan with the same starting words.
There was a rEvati outline sung before the viruttam.

Tiruppugazh (niraimadi) and Mangalam were the ending pieces.

Ghatam was by Udupi Sridhar! Interestingly TNS seemed to address all his 3 accompanists in the course of the concert :) there were many RamAs in heccarikka and kalyana rama, there was a chandrashekhara in giripriyam and there was a Sridhara in the pallavi!

Excellent & spellbinding concert overall!!!

Mitri Bhagyame from TNS, one has not been heard in a very long time. I am sure it must have been a treat.

It is otherwise sung by Nedunuri, Vedavalli, Hyd Bros very often.
