Song selection:
1) Hamsadvani Varnam
2) Sri Vathapi Ganapathiye-Sahana (KS)
3) Muddu Momu - Chakravaham
4) Azhaga Azhaga - Suddha Danyasi - R, KS
5) Sri Vishwanatham Bhaje - Ragamalika in 14 ragas starting with Sri
6) Nenaruchi - Kannada
7) Sandehamu - Kalyani - R, N, KS
8) Enna Thavam - Kapi
9) Valli Kanavan Perai
10) Yadavaraya
11) Khamas Thillana by Lalgudi

There were serious imbalances in the sound system and a good 10 minute break after the Dikshitar masterpiece Sri Vishwanatham. People were leaving by the droves and more so during the thani (very sad since both mrudangam and morsing were awesome-don't remember the names, pl add)
It is to the total credit of the artiste for keeping her sense of humour, professionalism and skill in rendering a great concert. Both Suddha Danyasi and Kalyani raga alapanas and swaras were intelligent. Embar Kannan as always was spot on. I wonder what the outcome could have been on a perfect day!

nenarunchara simhavahini or nenarunchi nanu in malavi, mudhdhumomu is suryakantham and not chakravaham. since there are 14 ragams it is ccalled as chaturdasa ragamalika.

Mridangam by Sri. Tiruvarur Vaidhyanathan

Mohrsing by Sri. Raman.

Her kalyani that day was top notch and it portrayed all the beautiful phrases ..

It was sad that we lost 15 mins of her singing time due to the mike adjustments ...

It was a great concert .. minus RTP ..

Yes, thanks for the ragam corrections. I had question marks against them anyway and since I posted a week later, I should have left them out.

Why are the acoustics such a let down year after year...and at times the sabhas get so callous about it taking the audience so much for granted. It is a let down to the audience, exasperating and disrespectful for the musicians and quite demotivating to see the crowd moving away for no fault of theirs... I suppose when you sue the sabha for deficiency in service, (consumer forum to please help!!) things may perk up. Its their core competency that they are taking so lightly...

Shalu, I agree-some consumer forum needs to pick this up. The Sabhas collect good money for their evening kutcheri. People go to some trouble to organise their tickets-standing in queues, sending friends etc. A smaller person than Sudha could easily have been demoralised and had a bad concert for which they will get slammed by the reviewers. Only winner here is the Sabha!
