Dubai Music Lovers (DML) is a group of individuals committed to preserving, promoting Indian Music particularly Carnatic Music in Dubai, U.A.E. It also conducts regular workshops with visiting musicians from India for training the students of carnatic music Through out the year, various programmes are organized such as the Trinity Festival in April / May, Akanda Vishnu Ganam during Vaikunta Ekadasi , Akanda Siva Ganam during Sivarathri besides monthly chamber concerts.
Dubai Music Lovers organized AKANDA VISHNU GAANAM on 1st of January 2010 to mark Vaikunda Ekadasi . It was a nonstop 12 hours musical programme from 9 AM to 9 PM in which 67 participants in the age group of 5 to 60 participated. All songs on Lord Vishnu from variety of composers were rendered.The songs were also chosen in such a way there is no repetition in any songs. Most of the participants were children and all the parents felt it was an ideal platform for their children and appreciated DML for providing such an opportunity. The accompanists were also Senior Vidwans on Violin, Mridangam and Kanjira.
Since the day coincided with Arudhra Darisanam , some songs on Lord Nataraja was also rendered in the end. The program ended on a high note with the active participation of the rasikas .The overall response from the rasikas was very good. It left the rasikas with an eager to look forward for the next program.
