akella gAru looks more like a retd IPS officer then a carnatic violinst and teacher. Congrats akella gAru, just curious who ever gave you the two seminal books ‘Tala Dasa Praana Pradeepika' by Poluri Govinda Kavi, and ‘Gaayaka Lochanam' by Thachur brothers, was the two books written in telugu.

Re: Akella Mallikarjuna Sharma
Dear brother-member, rasjeshnat, Today only I accidentally saw my name in this thread. Even though I am not presently an active Vidwan another brother-member, Shivadasan, affectionately started a thread in my name long ago and other brother-members are continuing it. Ok. I am very much beholden to all of you.
After my father’s ‘Tapas’ for four months in ‘Jnaanavaapi’ in Varanasi to fulfill the desire of having a son I took birth as his son to his third wife, my mother and I was his first son to be alive. He lost his first wife along with all the male and female children. Later, he lost his second wife also along with all the male and female children except two daughters. Later, being a ‘Shivopaasaka’ performed this ‘Tapas’ on HIS direction only and I was born. That is why many things are used to happen in my life without any obvious connection. In this way, when I was the student of the Vizianagaram Music college, in 1958 and when a person from Tanjore came there and gave me a list of several books in different languages I, even without having any knowledge of any book of them, have just ticked these two books among all of them to be sent to me later. I never know that I have to later go through the strenuous and stupendous research of Talaprastara for four decades of my life and all that depends upon these two books. It has already been destined. How would I know? All it is HIS will. That’s all. amsharma

Dear brother-member ‘rajeshnat”,
After many years, just today only I happened to go through this thread and found your post. I beg your pardon for this inordinate delay in replying.
In the beginning of 1958 when I was at the Vizianagaram-music-college for three months to learn the balance of 7 compositions in the Diploma syllabus a book-shop-owner from Tanjavur visited our college. He came to me, showed a books’ list and asked me to select two music-books of the Telugu-list. That was the first time to me to see such a huge list of Telugu-music-books. Even though I was not acquainted with any of those books I have, by providence, ticked these two books. Later, these two books became the main source for the four-decades-long research upon the ‘Talaprastara’. amsharma
