It was once again a beautiful concert by the bros . The concert was scheduled to start at
6.30 but was a delayed affair , starting only at 7 , as the previous concert by athira krishna
was going on till 6.30..

All the pieces were rendered beautifully with a lot of verve and enthusiasm . Since i heard
most of the pieces for the first time , request you all to correct any mistakes in the list . I
especially liked the darbar rendition very much and the swara patterns that followed . With
varadarajan on the violin , the returns were brilliant as usual . I think he is right up there in
the top league with a great mathematical bent of mind.. His playing the other nite , was
subdued , without being flashy , but brilliant ..

The bhoopalam krithi of MD , was prefixed by a sloka of kanchi periyavA . But i felt ,
purvikalyani alapana stretched a far too little for it to be called as sub main , and it is here i
felt proportion lacking a little bit , as they could have included one or two othr pieces or could
have done a niraval for the main . For when they started thodi , it was 8.30 . For the thOdi krithi , there was no niraval , but swarams at an unusual ( rather difficult ) eduppu at 3-thalli from samam ..

Sankaran sir was in top form for the evening and played beautifully along with karthick . The
thani at this rather unusual eduppu was brilliant . He first started off with combinations of
5's , 7's and 9's which highlighted the edam . And then launched into a thisra gathi , with
rapid fire exchanges between him and karthick. He rounded off with a great thisra koraippu
and a mohra- korvai .. By the time thani got over it was 9.35 and i had to leave as i didnt
have my vehicle . If anyone else was there , request them to fill up the list . Overall a great
concert and another lovely sunday evening.

Very nice line up .I think Trichy sankaran - S.Karthick combination is a rare combo

It was a wonderful concert.

Poorvikalyani alapanai by Ravikumar started with an unusual phrase 'GPDSND' giving hint that it could be Bilahari.
He sang it differently and I liked it in spite of PK not my favourite.The swara exchanges bet.the bros.landing @ G in single avarthanam gave good listening.

Todi by Sriramkumar as well as the kriti that was rendered in a bit faster tempo was also very good.

What a great tani both the Drs.played ?

An excellent concert.

In fact i think trichy sankaran himself is a rarity , as we get to heam him only during season . But one thing i have observed in the recent years is that he makes it a point to play a concert with all the upa pakkavadhya vidwans like sundarkumar , guruprasanna , amrit , b.s.purushotaman , ems , suresh , karthick , mayavaram somu , srirangam kannan etc..
