It was personally a very satisfying concert. The list appealed to me quite a bit. The GNB Ranjani Varnam was a good brisk start followed by the Khamas piece. Swarams were sung at different Eduppus - at Idathu Padam and at Thiruvadi in different Nadais. Anandabhairavi is always a favourite of mine and it was nice to listen to an Alapanai followed by the soothing Shyama Sastri piece. Been a while since I heard this - have been hearing O Jagadamba and Manasa Guru Guha more often these days. The Mohanakalyani was quite elaborate, a good Swara Kuraippu was done with some nice replies by the violinist. The Krithi was announced to be part of HMB's Chamundi Ashtothra Krithis. The next song, again a HMB one, is apparently a Siva Ashtothra piece. Was good to hear a Surutti midway, the Krithi - a GKB composition.
The Dikshithar Krithi was announced to be in the Ragam Chathurangini - an equivalent of the 66th Melakartha Chitrambari. Was an absorbing offbeat filler.
The main Thodi Ragam was done very well. The Alapanai made particularly nice use of lower octave Prayogams. Don't hear substantial passages most times in the lower octaves for Thodi. Was reminded of a TNK concert a couple of years ago, where TNK, whilst playing Thodi, suddenly got lost in the lower octaves and remarked 'keezha vaasicha ivlo nanna irukku' and continued in the G string for about 2 minutes

The Krithi was again a nice choice and was sung in all its glory. A fine Neraval was done and the Swarams were sung at different Eduppus with some nice patterns. The Tani was good with some nice Kanakku by both the Mrudangam and Kanjira artistes.
Post Tani, liked the Behag.
Overall, it was a very nice concert, one I'll remember for quite a while.
