5. kandane kandane kandane seethaiyi - vasantha? - AK
6. Sheenamai tiruga : main (13R7, 8N, 10S, ?T) - Mukhari
N @ Edijesina jaganathudu
I liked the entire concert , everything he sang. May be
it is overdose of Mukhari alapana for me due to several mukharis
at 2 down again and again. But the sheenamai song compensated
it as I have never heard it live full ( RNS).
The high lights: The bright kannnada varnam, sahana alapana and both
neravals. There is literally zero 'thigu thigu' in his neraval
and he uses the lyrics. I had to leave after the main as too many
restless people waiting for the evening package starting at 715pm.
The crowd for Sikkil Gurucharan himself is huge going by the 430pm
concert standard. Someone can update post tani.

Now about the concert hall :
There are nice things about the festival. the 430 concert idea itself is good for
people who come from long distance. The traditional makeshift stage is great
for the urban audience. They improved the audio quality very much compared to
previous years. The make shift has aircooler all round.
Some shortcomings: Aircooler is operated only at 530pm. The huge bandal has most chairs in the
first 25 rows reserved for season pass holders. So if you take a daily ticket , You can probably identify the artist only if have seen him before. And everything is makeshift, toilet is a makeshift, I found only 2 single toilets
( 2 fibreglass booths) , for such a huge crowd! And if you come out for a coffee at 6pm, you get
icecreams and some bottled mango juices. No coffee or snacks, that too in Bangalore.
The daily ticket counter open at its own time. That is 10-15 minutes after
430 concert starts. So if you by mistake enter the bandal to listen ,
20 minutes in to the concert, you will be more or less pushed out by security men
to get your ticket after the counter opens. They will come and ask everyone
whether they have a ticket or pass. The organisers can look at how all these problems are
solved at ISS in Indranagar, or new unnati center, both are peaceful concert places. I am
sure it is not going to improve, as most crowd is local around the concert place and they probably
know all these.

#5 kaNDEn kaNDEn kaNDEn sItaiyai kaNDEn rAghavA of AK is sung in vasantA by some schools and in bhAgESri by others - personally, I prefer the bhAgESri version - the pathos of bhAgESri seems more appropriate as hanumAn describes sItA in the ashOka vATikA as 'panikAla vArijam pOla niram pUSi' and about her decision to give up her life

Lucky you!! This year you have toilets. Previous years, we have been using the "natural" means- whenever we HAD to!!!

I think it is inappropriate to compare 300-400 capacity halls and 3500 capacity pandal.Things are to be planned at an entirely different scale.

7. OdOdi vandEn kaNNa - dharmavathI
8. thillana - behAg (in Kannada language).
I liked the neraval he did for dEvadidEva too. It was superb ! The tani was shorter than what I had expected.
And yeah, I did have a tough time negotiating my way out of the grounds after SGC's concert !
