Here is a question masquerading as a concert review. Read on...
Malladi Bros. gave an energetic and engaging performance for Nayaki. Unfortunately I don't positively recall who the accompanists were. Maybe S. Varadarajan and Sri. Mannargudi Easwaran.
Song list:
1. Vanajakshiro (varnam), Kalyani, Adi
2. Ma paala velasitha, Asaveri (s)
3. O rajeevaksha, devagandhari(!) (s)
4. Pahi giriraja suthe (ns @ shyamedya bhavamamamudhe)
5. Teliyaleru rama, Dhenuka
6. Kambodhi, Mari mari vatsuna, Mysore Vasudevachar
7. Appan avadharitha kadhamrutham, kkp
Question:
1. Was #3 in Devagandhari or was my ears playing tricks on me? Most others seem to sing it in Arabhi.

you must have got the impression that it was D'gandhari.. they, like everybody else, sing it in Arabhi.1. Was #3 in Devagandhari or was my ears playing tricks on me? Most others seem to sing it in Arabhi.
It is nice that they have sung the mudra caraNam.. it hardly gets aired in public, hidden in forgotten yellowing pages of krtimanimAlai copies.4. Pahi giriraja suthe (ns @ shyamedya bhava mama mudhe)
Most singers sing the caraNam that goes 'devi purAni'.
