Reviews worth (?) reading

Post by rshankar »

In this wonderful review (I guess in these days of cost cutting, Hindu has had to let several editors go) from B'luru, the lovely navarAgamAlikA padavarNam of Sri Dandayudhapani Pillai 'svAmiyai azhaittODi vA' morphs into 'SwAiyai Arai Todi Va' - the question I have for the reporter is - was this half (arai) a tODi rAgam, or was the hapless svAmi being slapped (aRai) to the tune of tODi?

This is what happens when u pay a culturally illiterate person to do the job. Dance reporting is not a joke. You need to have more than one skill to remain faithful to the dancer, the nattuvanar, the musicians, the composer, the choreographer, the guru, the audience and the critics.
