Smt Radha Bhaskar: excellent venture indeed. Please provide us details of what's planned for the series. Hope the programs will be recorded.
Only wish you had a distant learning option for those of us who are located far away from Chennai...

I am happy to share that we had an overwhelming response to the first session of our Music Apprreciation Programme.Though we had fixed the Bhavan's mini hall, there were so many registrations and requests that we had to shift the programme to the main hall. It was indeed heartening to see that rasikas are so enthusiastic to know more about the finer nuances of Karnatic music. Now, we also have quite a number of rasikas in the 'waiting list" too for being accomodated in the future sesions! I hope that through the course of this one year, we will be able to contribute our small bit in creating more knowledgeable rasikas for Karnatic music.

Would like to share the feedback of one rasika who sent a mail to me after attending the progtramme –
Dear Radha-ji and Bhaskar-ji,
Just wanted to provide my feedback about Session 1 of the Music Appreciation Programme conducted at BVB yesterday - I couldn’t do the feedback last night!
At the outset, I’d like to say a huge thanks to you for taking time out to educate lay persons like me. How your session yesterday helped me was:
1. It enhanced my awe and reverence for, curiosity and interest in Karnatic music. I could see there a whole body of meticulously laid down science behind the art form (this was very comforting!). Not that I didn’t know there was a science behind the art form – its just that I didn’t know it was that deep and that the depth was quite unparalleled. (eg: 72 Melakartha Ragas in Karnatic versus just 10 (??) in Hindustani!; the oscillation of the notes which make the difference and add to the richness – is that unique to Karnatic?? etc). In essence, your session left me hungry – ravenously, if I may add (!) - to know more J
2. As a lay person just beginning to scratch the surface of Karnatic music, it provided me with the macro picture into which I could peg some of the micro components that I’d been learning since I started my Karnatic voyage!
3. Radha’s communication was a treat to listen to. So was Bhaskar’s when he spoke – clear, precise and to-the-point, hard-hitting!
