Missed only Madurai... Awesome series. Am sure there'll be many delectable MD kritis-- her forte!
There don't seem to be any kritis by the other two of the Trinity?

Another superb programme....
Smt. VS started with a rare and interesting padavarnam in Sriranjani by Ramasamy Dikshitar.... It has 4 charanas each composed by-- Ramasamy Dikshitar, Syama Sastri, Chinnasamy Dikshitar and Muthuswami Dikshitar-- in that order. She mentioned that this is given in the SSP... Both Papanasam Sivan's Sri vathapi Ganapathiye in Sahana ws followed by Sadachaleswaram in Bhupalam. Other Dikshitar masterpieces were Kamalambam Bhajare in Kalyani, Thyagaraja Yoga vaibhavam in AB, Sri Kamalambike in Sri( for mangalam) and a nottu swara composition-- Shakti sahita Ganapathim.
The pick of the day for me was the Kalyani piece. Neraval was done at 'Nirvisesha chaitanya rupinim oorvi tatvadi swarupinim'. Have not heard this before and it was beautiful! Smt. VS has amazing bhava and sings every song with a lot of involvement and feeling. Somehow, to me, her renditions stand apart, even in the commonly heard songs. Her daughter also sang with her in some songs and did a good job.
Nagai Mukundan was interesting but rather loud! He spoke more about Sundarar and Thyagesar. Also mentioned some of the Dikshitar songs. He said while Thyagaraja represented Bhakti marga, Dikshitar did Karma and Syama Sastri Gnana. I think it has always been recognised that Dikshitar has followed the gnana marga?
A great evening in all...

>> He spoke more about Sundarar and Thyagesar<<
Of course, without Sundarar (9th century CE) TiruvArUr has no meaning although he was not born there. It was there that Lord Thyagaraja dominated over Sundarar (who was the personal assistant to the Lord in the heavens in the name of Alala sundarar). Sundarar married paravaiyAr (kamalini in the heavens), first of his two wives there. Sundarar made several excursions away from TiruvArUr to visit so many kshetrams, everytime returning to his base there. The Lord, the legend says, gave him lot of gold coins (to satisfy the voracious appetite of paravaiyAr for wealth) elsewhere, and helped him recover them from the temple tank at TiruvArUr (in the presence of multitudes of people) after asking him to dump them all in the river MuttARu (in VriddAcalam). To make a long story short, yes, but for Sundarar TiruvArUr would not have had its fame to begin with. The CM trinity were blessed to be born there. It is said,
jananAt kamalAlayE dharshanAth aprasadasi smaraNad aruNAcalam kAshi tu maraNam mukti
Meaning: To attain salvation one has to be born in TiruvArUr, visit and worship at Cidambaram, hold TiruvaNNAmalai in one's thoughts, and die at KAsi.

* I was told she covered one of Vidu.. Rukmini Ramani's compositions on Trinity in Hamsanandi &.Sundarar Thevaram in Ragamalika starting with Kanada ending with Jonpuri.]
*Andavan Darisaname-HMB-Jonpuri.
*Appar Thevaram-Muhari.
*Sudamadurabashini-Vandanadarini(Pradimadyama version of Suddha saveri?!)-HMB.?
*Needan yethanai Agum-Tirupugagzh-Chandrakauns-set to tune by (Dr.)V.S.
* Looks like MD had a major share. Huge collections of Rajam sir's paintings on Tiruvarur should have come handy ,I suppose.
*Great job.
