Post by sramesh »

Music whether instrumental or vocal has a theraputical effect I felt and enjoyed from a real artist the great and eminent personalities like Dr. Balamurali Krishna, great Mridangist Shri Umayal Puram Shivaraman etc, we could feel sweet percussive effect only from him the sweet sound dominates well our mind and health, great vainika prodiji Mrs. E. Gayithrai Madam, the gamakas flow meluflowusly, having a meditational effect.

sramesh sir:
Your point is well-taken. No question music is soothing, especially at low decibels. There are also several other vidwans whose music is as soothing as that of the ones you mentioned.
Can I make one small spelling/word correction please?
meluflowusly ------> mellifluously
I am in the IX standard but if you think I am out of line here I will stand up on the bench voluntarily.

MK: yes, you HAVE to stand upon the bench for the entire period ! You missed out on "prodiji" and "therapeutical" , new American inventions as "preventative" and "irregardless". However, you are excused since you are only in the IX grade.

Sundara Rajan:
Actually Webster permits both "therapeutic" and "therapeutical" as adjectives. Even though I am in IX grade I consult Webster when I have a doubt.
Regarding "prodigy" (prodiji--- as used by sramesh sir), since that word was appended in front of "Madam", I was scared to touch that word. Besides, students in IX grade can point out only one mistake at a time (r-t is in second grade because he was sent back to second grade after sramesh sir was displeased with his behavior. So he cannot ask any question whatsoever. Pl tell him when you see him). Can I sit down now? "kAl valikkaRadu sir"

I suggest that we should not rub in english mistakes, especially when there are too many; as long as you get the meaning. When we keep following some one's posting, we should be able to judge if it is worth correcting, unless it is done just for the amusement of everyone else.

The correction is peripheral. If you noticed I pointed out only one.If you keep reading the messages but miss the humor you are really missing out!

Yes, there is more humor in all this--the poster being the most amused, getting all the attention he wants, whatever he cares to or cares not to write about ;)

Humour at someone else's expense is not healthy. We can produce as much of self deprecatory humour as we want, if we want.

If you volunteer to do that it is your privilege to do so. This forum is not the place, in my opinion, for self-deprecatory humor. "mea culpa" is OK but I am not going to provide fun here poking myself.. As for "at other's expense", it (the humor) was not intentionally injurious but incidental to the irrelevance of the message mixed with pedantic proclamations by the particular poster. :grin:
