Malladi Bros. ably supported by Sri Ganesh Prasad on violin and Sri Satish Kumar on Mridangam treated C.M lovers of Los Angeles to a very satisfying treat on Sept 11 2010, the menu being as under;
A sanskrit sloaka honouring the complete lineage of Vagyekakaras in Hamsadwani followed by Jalalajakshi, a varnam in the same Raga
Sri Ganapahi Sourashtram,
Yochana Darbar with Raga Alapana and swaram prastharan
Sri Mathru Bootham Kannada " " "
A composition by Sri Ganapathi Satchidanda Swamigal
(could not make out words correctly)
Kumaran Thal Yadukula kambodhi
The Main Raga Thodi with elaborate alapana Koluva Maragada followed by beautiful neraval and swarars
Competent Tani
R.T.P In Dharmavathi as the main Raga with Begada Saveri, Valaji, Suddha Dhanyasi as embelisments
Dwijavanthi with a slokam followed by Sri Ramachandrena

Govardhana Giridhar in Suddha Sarang (It may be noted that many vidwans render this either in hindolam or Darbari Kanada)
A purandaradas piece in Kapi
Taraga Manthram Dhanyasi
Channdrasekaram and concluding the concert with Mangalam\
I would like to make the following observations.
The usual mid kutcheri exodus at the start of thani was conspicuous by its absence. May be Satish Kumar gave hints during the earlier portion itself about his mastery that rasikas did not want to miss any of the thanl.
Although sitting back well in the last but two rows in the fairly large auditorium and 90+ ability to hear, I could hear the music very well but the artists were insisting to increase the amplification. May the monitor provided to give a feed back was not properly matched with the main audio system
All in all it was a nice Vinayaka Chaturthi. May Sri Rama bless you all

Re posting 3 1, I forgot to mention one important aspect. There has been quite a number of arguments and counnterarguments in the past regarding Mridangam accompaniment during rendering of Tanam. When I heard the artist carresing beautful and pleasng sound effects from this instrument while the vocalist an the violonist were rendering tanam, in this concert I feel it is O.K

Patiri Satish Kumar is in a class of his own - a brilliant mridangist. Glad to note it was a very enjoyable concert.
