So, instead of akAra sAdhanA for one hour, do it for 30 mins and spend the next 30 listening to GNB?

Thanks Vainika..

This is the crux of their finding

"The current data indicate that it may be possible to reduce the effort required by participants by at least half, with no deleterious effect, simply by combining periods of task performance with periods of additional stimulus exposure."

You referred to this at quite an opportune time for me. I am currently trying to improve my swara identification skills, and in general be more sensitive to the sounds rather than just overall listening. It has been quite an enjoyable experience.

My current method is to simply listen to the Radel sruthi box sound at various 'strumming tempos' ( in mono, without the Pa string sond ) and listen to the various Swayambu swaras that emante ( like Ga, Pa, Ni etc. ). Different strumming tempos seem to produce different swayambu swaras. Then try to latch on to those swaras with my own voice or flute while paying very close attention to those sounds and reflect on it, rather than mechanical listening.

What 'additional stimulus' can I use for this non-attention/non-practise time for this purpose? Just simply have the sruthi sound in the background with out paying conscious attention? Do you have any other suggestions?
