Re: Malahari
I have heard a thiruppugazh in this ragam
Sung by Guruji A. S. Raghavan
Naarale thol neeraale
http://www.kaumaram.com/audio_k/grtp1040.html
But of course, things like thiruppugazh are essentially sung in the raga selected by the singer...

Re: Malahari
The violinist in the RTP in Malahari is S.D.Sridhar and Mridangam by the great CS Murugaboopathy.
TNS has sung alapana of Malahari on various occasions. He has sung the alapana for Sree Mahaganapathe, a composition of Muthiah Bhagavathar in Malahari. In some concerts he has sung Sree Gananatha the Geetham in Malahari. He has sung kalpanaswaras for both the songs..
Another famous song in Malahari is Panchamathangamukha of Deekshitar. OF the various renditions I have heard the rendering by Balamuralikrishna and TRS stand tall. The swaras of TRS keep you spellbound.
