Charulatha Mani's ‘Sahitya Payanam' (Third in the series)

on October 31, 6.30 pm at the R. K. Swamy Auditorium (opp. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan), Mylapore.

She will present classical compositions in various languages providing their meaning, background information, and interesting anecdotes about the kshetra and composer.

The concert was very well received. Unfortunately, owing to the limited capacity of the RK Swamy hall, many rasikas could not be accommodated. The inconvenience is regretted.

The concert was preceded by the presenting of a cash award from the Isai Payanam Trust to veteran Tambura artiste Ms. Vijayalakshmi as token of appreciation for her services to Carnatic Music. In addition to accompanying many musicians on the tambura, Ms. Vijayalakshmi is also an accomplished singer, having sung in film choruses in her younger days.
