Music Talk by R.K.Narayanan

Post by Shivadasan »

There is an interesting article in the Hindu (23-12-2010) by Late R.K.Narayanan on ‘Music Talk’ where he explains how and when the ‘Music Talk’ would be successful. Rasikas.org is also a forum for music talk and it appears his opinions are very relevant to discussion in our forum. I am giving below the concerned link to enable the members to read the article and find out whether we can benefit by his experience.

By R.K.Narayan (not Narayanan). Pardon my nit-pick on this issue!

Nice article and very true, indeed. I recently met a friend after a long time on the road, a few hours after a concert that we both happened to attend and we did spend almost as much time as the concert, discussing that and all things arising from it. Both of us indeed had to make alternate transport arrangements to reach home that night as it was too late for the bus. There is so much to talk about and when one gets a sympathetic ear .... Doesn't speak for my 'listening' abilities, I admit.

Nice writing. His usual humorous style makes it an interesting reading.

Had he been with us at rasikas.org, I am sure he would have written an addendum to that article, slightly modifying his take for online chats. Here being at the same "time" and "space" does not exist of course, and we managed to survive even with widely different views and knowledge levels. Our threads are a different breed from real life music chat sessions, indeed.
