It is unfortunate that the individuals who in my view are not competent enough to either comment on sanjay subramaniam's eloquent rendering of Thirukural nor the suitability of Thirukural for carnatic music renderings have chosen to comment on both.

For a few individuals, Music is only carnatic music and carnatic music is only with regard to compositions other than in Tamil.
Sanjay Subramaniam has proved how well Thirukural can fit in into Carnatic music scheme.
Thirukural was tuned initially by Mayavaram Viswanatha Sastrigal
(Worthy effort http://www.hinduonnet.com/fr/2003/02/28 ... 140400.htm)
and was popularized by Shri S Rajam.
MM Dandapanidesigar has also rendered Thirukural in his concerts.

It may be of interest to know that Manickam Yogeswaran a Sri Lanka-born, Tamil musician and teacher—who has worked in a variety of musical, dance and multimedia contexts, has rendered and recorded the Saint Thiruvalluvar’s aphoristic Thirukkural set to 133 ragams.
The CD was officially released at the International Movement for Tamil Culture’s World Thirukkural Conference in Toronto in 1998 (where Yogeswaran was felicitated with the title ‘Isai Vallal’).
In January 2000 Yogaswaran attended the ‘unveiling’ ceremony of saint’s statue—symbolically 133 feet high, a foot for every chapter—as one of the ceremony’s distinguished guests alongside the event’s host, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Kalaingar Dr. M. Karunanidhi.
"The mark of wisdom is to discern the truth
From whatever source it is heard."
