Vigneshwara Janma
I looked on this forum and google and I am unable to find a translation for this song. I believe it is a song from the Malayalam film from the 80s but I could be wrong. I know that it is a devotional song by P.Jayachandran.
I have found lyrics for them, but no translation
Vigneshwara janma naalikeram
Ninte thrikkaalkkal udakkuvaan vannu
Thumbiyum kombum kondadiyante
Maargam thamburaane thadayalle
Eka dhantha kaakkanme niyatham (vigneshwara)
Aravana paayasam unnumbol
Athil ninnoru vatu nee tharane (aravana)
Varnnangal thedum naavin thumbinu
Punnyaakshram tharane ganeswaraa
Gamgana padhaye namo nama (vigneswara)
Irulin mulam kaadu cheenthumbol
Arimuthu maniyenikku nee tharane (irulin)
Koodillaathoree niswanam nin krupa
Kudilaay theeraname ganeswaraa
Gamgana padhaye namo nama (vigneswara).
I hope that someone can help me.
If you need to hear it, here is a link a version of the song:

Perhaps ragam-talam will resurrect himself (Easter is not too far) and provide the translation for this one in Malayalam - or maybe harimau will get enthusiastic. Who knows.

Oh! Lord Ganesha, I came (here) to break the coconut of my life at your feet.(poet compares his life to a coconut which devotees break at Lords feet) Dont block my path with your trunk and tusks(thumbi=thumbikkai-trunk of elephant ,kombu=tusk) oh ekadantha Please protect me for ever.
When you eat aravana paayasam(main offering in some temples including sabarimala is aravana paayasam, uNNuka= to eat, especially meals -in other cases 'thinnuka' is used eg:- dosa thinnu)),please give me a bit from it. Bless my toung which seek letters(varnam=aksharam=letter/sound) by providing holy letter( the poet seem to mean the sound of "ohm"). When you tear bamboo forest give me a grain of bamboo seed.(muLa=bamboo)may your mercy be a shelter to this homeless(kootu=nest, niswan=poor man without any wealth,kuTil=hut)
some corrections in the lyrics- gam ganapataye(not padhaye) niswanu nin krupa(not niswanam). It is a song from a devotional album, set to nattai ragam.

Re: Vigneshwara Janma
I hate to ask because I'm sure it is tedious. Is there anyway that you could give a word for word translation?

thank you so much. And thank you also for correcting the lyrics I found. I'm sure I would have been confused!
Once again, thank you so much
