Words and meanings for Ganapathiye

Post by 2tcutie »

Can you please help me get the accurate words and meanings for the song "Ganapathiye arulvaye" sung by Madurai Sethuraman? The words as I hear it are below.

Pallavi
Ganapathiye Arulvaye Malaimagal Mainda
Vananguvor-k-arulum moolaswaroopane

Anupallavi
Kanamathil Kanitharave Sivasakhti Balamvandu
Manamulla kanivetri asaindu asaindu aadi varum

Charanam
Karkal izhaitha kritam shirasilil minna
Porpuda nagaikal sevithanil aada
Netriyil thiruneerum kumkumamum kulangidave
Portruvor-k-arulum punyaswaroopane

Thank you!

Here is my attempt at this - the words in red areprobably wrong...
pallavi
gaNapatiyE aruLvAyE malaimagaL maindA

vaNaNguvOr-k-aruLum mUlasvarUpanE
Oh son (maindA) of pArvati (malaimagaL) [1], the leader (pati) of the gaNas, the embodiment (svarUpanE) of the primordial principle (mUla), please shower your blessings (aruLvAyE)!

anupallavi
kaNamadil kanittaravE SivaSakti valamvandu
maNamuLLa kanivETRu asaindu asaindu ADi varum (gaNapatiyE)

One who went around (valamvandu) his parents (Siva and Sakti) in a second (kaNamadil) [2] so that the fruit (kani) could be given to him (taravE) [3], one who accepted (ETRu) the fragrant (maNamuLLa) fruit (kani), who comes (varum) with a slow and indolent (asaindu asaindu ADi) gail, (please shower your blessings)!

caraNam
karkaL izhaitta kirITam Sirasinil minna
porpuda nagaigaL sevitanil ADa
neTRiyil tirunIrum kumkumamum tulangiDavE
pOTRuvOr-k-aruLum puNyasvarUpanE

With a crown (kirITam) set (izhaitta) with precious stones (karkaL) that glitters (minna) atop your head (Sirasinil), and ornaments (nagaigaL) dancing (ADa) in your ears (Sevitanil), holy ash (tirunIrum) and vermilion (kuMkumamum) glistening (tulangiDavE) on your forehead (neTRiyil), you are the one who blesses (aruLum) those that worship (pOTRuvOrku) you, Oh embodiment (svarUpanE) of all that is holy (puNya) (please shower your blessings)!

FOOTNOTES
[1] malaimagaL - daughter (magaL) of the mountains (malai) = girijA/SailajA in sanskRt
[2] Refers to the story of gaNapati going around his parents (his world) getting the better of muruga who tries to go around the physical world on his peacock
[3] I think this word should be kanipperavE - (so that he) could get (peravE) the fruit (kani)
