khamAs, sAvEri, and suruTTi - what more could one ask for?! Lucky you, Srikant! I'll be listening to Prof. TNK in Singapore this Friday. All my experiments are welcome to fail this week! :D

Sad that I couldn't make it to this! I find the Saveri followed by Bhavayami very interesting! So, he played swarams at every raagam?

It's so easy to be greedy! kAmbhOji, maybe? :D I was wanting a kAmbhOji, but before the concert, I decided I'll settle for a khamAs ... and the sabha is connected to Mysore Vasudevachar, so this khamAs was expectable. Actually I was praying for a nIlAmbari, and it came too ... though without an AlApanai. And the maNirangu sketch while finishing the mangalam should be mentioned too!

It so happens I attended absolutely no concerts between this and http://rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=15709 ! Both TNK solos, in ambiences he liked (and with TASM)! I sat, again, cross-legged, not far from the stage.

I would have liked to attend yesterday's Naada Surabhi flute concert, but that was not to happen. :(
So, he played swarams at every raagam?
He played the ciTTaswarams that come in the composition, but not kalpanA swaras.

Oh sorry, the "rAga mAlika" appears where "<rAga name>" should come. It is written to state that the composition itself is (was played ;) as) a rAga mAlika, not rAga mAlika swarams.

Srikant, are you a violinist yourself? I see you also refer to the instrument as fiddle, a la rbharath. Any particular reason?

After this :$-incident:
http://rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic.php? ... it=kanjari

I decided I will call instruments by a variety of names. :)

That's my post! Haha
I remember Srikant correcting me about it being Kanjira and not Kanjari some time! :P
