Vishnudev Namboodiri's concert@Mumbai

Post by anoopnm007 »

Hi,

http://www.mediafire.com/?jtctndhv2hbvb
Here is the link to a concert by carnatic idol fame Vishnudev namboodiri's concert.
It was a really enjoyable concert with a really good bhairavi and an amazing RTP in abheri.
The pallavi was a surprise gift to the rasikas with the sahitya "bheri mridanga tala..." which
rhymed with abheri. The story is incomplete without mentioning that the concert was organized
by a sabha called BHERI :)...
kudos to vishnudev

Regards
Anoop Krishnan N M

Just listened to the superb RT&P in Abheri. Vishnu has done a marvellous job. The aalaapana is quite good and the swaraprasthaaram just superb like a natural water-fall. The beautiful transition to mohanam is seamlessly pleasant with the thunderous explosive finish. The accompanists have rendered excellent cooperation. The pallavi line is beautifully and contextually constructed showing his skills in handling sahityam. No doubt he is a rising star in the CM horizon worth watching. I wish him a very bright future...

Does anyone know who his guru is? There was a lot of talk about it during the carnatic idol show, but I don't remember seeing any confirmed reports.

Namaskarams!

I just happened to read the Carnatic Music Idol thread. First of all, thank you all very much for the great support! Its really motivating.

I am a disciple of Sri. Chandramana Narayanan Namboothiri (who is the guru of Sankaran Namboothiri, Madhu Balakrishnan etc.), based in Perumbavoor, Kerala. I learnt under him for 10 years. Now I am fortunate to learn under Sri. PSN sir for the last 5 years. I am settled in Mylapore, Chennai now for taking music more seriously.

Thanks Mr.Anoop for posting the concert link here. It was a very nice experience singing in Dombivili, basically because the audience was awesome. And 95% of the audience stayed till the end of the 3-hr concert. And the second best factor was the amazing support which the accompanying artists gave.

Requesting support, feedbacks and blessings again in the days to come!

Vishnu

While Vishnu is already welcomed by mahAvishnu, just few lines more from me.

I have seen your name in that program of carnatic idol, I just had a chance to download this dombivili concert and started hearing your concert , I have not touched "icing of berry" that is your RTP. YOu have a very matured voice  , there is a touch of definitely shankaran namboothiri . Best wishes to your career , looks like you have taken the two best moves of CM career , Selecting PSN as your guru and settling in mylapore(2 mantras that fit well with my slogan "carnatic music is always a competitive career"). Very happy that you have joined , looking forward to hear your live concert.

Welcoming you is just a formality. You may have noticed how many among us were rooting for you and were already your fan. Classicism sparkles in your presentations reflecting the training you have received from Sankaran Namboodri/PSN/and NSG (of late). We will follow your progress with interest as you mature into a seasoned CM artiste. Feel free to participate at our Forum and share your ideas and get good feedback. Keep us informed of your performances so that Rasikas may attend at their convenience. With the Grace of Lord Guruvaayurappan may you have a brilliant CM career.

Dear cmlover, a correction: Its not Sankaran Namboodiri, it is his guru Chandramana Narayanan Namboodiri. His is a famous and authentic music school in central kerala. He is known for his skill in identifying very young talents and for his special way of coaching with extreme importance to develop their manodharama. And he makes sure that all his disciples stick to purity in music, following examples shown by KVN and SSI.

Dear Vishnu
Tell us more about your guru Chandramana Narayanan Namboodiri. We have not heard about him at this Forum. Your approach to manodharma is excellent as we have witnessed in the 'Idol' as well as in the Abheri RTP clip just posted. It will be very useful for serious learners of CM. I particularly relished the tidal flow of swaras from you reminiscent of SSI in his younger days which earned him the title 'Electric Seenu' in those days.

I agree with VKR on the shift in the Centre of Gravity of CM from Chennai as more and more out--station youngsters take to CM. It bodes well for the future of CM..

Vishnu
Dont tell about your guru in this thread . Open a new thread in vidwans and vidushis with a "Chandramana Narayanan Namboodiri" and take it from there.

All
Not nitpicking on Centre of Gravity , but just wanted to clarify in general. Whenever we talk about Centre of Gravity , we are talking about the musicians of every state having their domiciliary based in chennai which in my opinion is atleast the same in the last two decades or slightly more.

IMHO ,Vishnu as he has done a right thing in moving to chennai, infact he has moved to absolute carnatic center of gravity - mile Ah Pour  that pours with CM.

Rajesh!
Don't be that selfish for Mylapore :D
We want CM to spread all over SI and not particularly congregated at Chennai just as the Rasikas are spread all over the globe. Vishnu rightly has taken residence at Mylapore to get the best training in CM and there is no reason such training is not made available in other locales in SI. In fact he got the best from Kerala! Similarly while we appreciate the Cleveland Festival we wish to have many more such centres in NA where CM is celebrated!

moved to absolute carnatic center of gravity - SURE....Chennai perhaps has the densest population of brahmins in number compared to any other town or city in India and the conveniences for brahmin culture including CM

I am with you in agreeing that it has to spread far greater than even south india. Best wishes to all who take up elsewhere too.
