Vid Neela Ramgopal would be performing at Nada Inbam, Chennai on the 16th of April (Saturday) at 6.30 PM -

If I'm not mistaken, I think this is a tribute to SVK on his birthday.

Those of us in Blr were *extremely* fortunate to have attended a *stunning* concert of Vid Neela Ramgopal y.day - the Purvikalyani was to die for as was the RTP in Shankarabaranam,

Smt.NR seems to be going great guns not withstanding her age. Every one of the Ramanavami concert series has her concert in Bangalore. Remarkable artist and a remarkably nice person with a sharp intellect, too. Our pranams and best wishes for one more successful concert season.

What did she sing in pUrvi kalyANi?

Padmavathi Ramanam - I've honestly not heard such a brilliant purvikalyani for a long, long, long time - the alapanai - in particular was simply beyond one's comprehension - some of the 'pidis' truly took us to a different realm.
I was just thinking of you Arasi when mami was singing purvikalyani and I thought to myself - you would've loved it!!!

Mami began with the kalyani raga ata tala varnam in 2 speeds and followed it with a grand alapanai of yadukula kambhoji.

It is diwakara tanujam that she is singing right now.

After swarams in both speeds for the y'kambhoji kriti, yagnadulu in jayamanohari was presented.

What sangatis!

There were swarams as well with koraippu to ri.


An alapanai of varali, with the right mix of everything.
Sri V L Kumar gave a good reply.

Shyama sastri master piece, kamakshi... So emotive and esoteric... Gosh!

After mami's alapanai, the violinst says "neengale yella sangatigalaiyum paaditeengale. Naan yenna vaasikkaradhu." and then gives a quick and measured reply.

I haven't heard padmAvati ramanam at all. Hope Neela Rmgopal will kindly sing it again in a concert when I'm in India...

All the three artistes had a great bonding with S V K.
Neela Ramgopal travelled all the way from Bangalore to Chennai just to sing on this occasion, though she had a concert on 17th at Bangalore
It was Great Music all the way, so involved, so intense. And heard with rapt attention.
Music befitting the occasion.
