I wish I could attend, but I am too far away
Quick question though...what is the violin-piano collaboration going to be like? Is it going to be purely western, or will there be a carnatic influence there as well?

AFAIK and have seen in their maiden rehearsals, Violin-Piano combination will be utterly improvisational exploring selected Raga scales and use of chord combinations in an interactive modality . . . sounded great.

You should add some simple Rhythmic support....maybe a kanjira (which you play pks!), or someone else in the area, to add another diminension.
BSP, among anothers, often collaborates with Anil Srinivasan and adds a lot to his performances.

Excellent...I wish I could be there. My brother plays the Piano (western)...he would have been very interested to see it as well.pks wrote:AFAIK and have seen in their maiden rehearsals, Violin-Piano combination will be utterly improvisational exploring selected Raga scales and use of chord combinations in an interactive modality . . . sounded great.

@mri_fan - Good suggestion. Initially,we prepared a piece with khanjira also. The piano being already percussive, we decided to skip khanjira this time to allow freedom to Rajna's improvisation. Dr. Narmadha sang ('very sruti aligned' as those who have heard her will know) to add a third dimension to the sound. Will post clips soon.
