I absolutely enjoyed the natabhairavi. However, many times especially during swarams and also during viriboni - he lost me with all the math. I confess that I am weak in math of all kinds
Beyond a point, my personal observation is that too much of it robs the melody component from the music. I wish there is more balance in the concert. His voice range is stunning and he is bold with his approach. It is obvious that he has lot of talent and my hopes are that they are channelized well.

Also those who attended - I felt the violin was squeaky - though they changed the mikes. It was obvious that Vid. Nagaraj was in full flow and Abhishek and Nagaraj were applauding each other. Did anyone else notice that ?

I have been quite strong in kaNakku. all the way; but very weak in carnatic musical kaNakku. Yes, too much kaNkku spoils the melody. "aLavukku minchinAl amirthamum nanju" ( over dose of even nectar will become poison)

Nice to see shrI vaLLi dEvasEnApatE in the list. Would've made a change from Lord Rama / Sitadevi songs through and through.
Good post-main list.
I like utsava sampradAya krtis like patiki hAratI.
That said, he did seem a little rushed, and I am sure it will get better in course of time.
Good post-main list.

I listened till the vasantA. Abhishek's music seemed very spontaneous, original and also honest. He does not seem to filter out things that are not "classy". However, I think doing so would probably remove something very essential to his music. After all, one cannot have one's cake and eat it too.It is obvious that he has lot of talent and my hopes are that they are channelized well.

I heard a couple of his programmes on TV. I felt that he was trying too many things together. Apaswarams keep coming, spoiling the overall effect. Kanakku is another.
Youngsters should be taught how to build solidity and perfection by their gurus. That is the only way to stay in the field for a long time. Being in a hurry, jumping around with many goals and being overambitious in the profession are not good pointers.
We wish this young man great success in CM.

Couldn't agree with you more. That is what I feel after attending to KVN, RKS, Nedunuri, Vedavalli et al. You feel the concert was complete. Amongst the youngster vocalists, I get that feeling only with Sanjaykssr wrote: Youngsters should be taught how to build solidity and perfection by their gurus. While I can understand that you don't particularly care for this artiste's approach, I find it hard to believe what you say about "apaswarams keep coming". Apaswarams has a very specific meaning and I think you may be wrongly employing it here to describe Abhishek's style.kssr wrote:I heard a couple of his programmes on TV. I agree with Sureshvv on this. Abhishek may be many things, but he does not produce apaswarams. He certainly uses unorthodox prayogams and can be liberal with anyaswarams at times, but that is part of his appeal.

" apaswaram"
Regularly slipping into "Anyaswarams" may be a polished way of saying the same. I got a clear feeling more than once that there was no firm grip on the correct notes and many quite loose landings. There is speed and attempts at wild manodharmam. Nothing against the boy. I only felt that with some proper training enabling him to get a firm grip on each raga before starting too much of innovations, will result in a much pleasanter listening experience and eventually we will get one more top quality artist.
