Re: Lyrics for alamAmarathin ilaimEl oru bAlagan
Found this from an old post in rasikas - but think DKP sings more.
Ala mAmarattin ilai mEl - amalanAdipirAn - tiruppAnAzhwAr
Ala mAmarattin ilai mEl oru bAlakanAi
njAlam Ezhum uNDAn arangattu aravin aNaiyAn
kOlamAmaNi Aramum muttut tAmamum muDivu illadu Orezhil
neelamEni aiyO niRaikoNDadu en nenjinaiyE
rshankar's translation :
Oh (aiyO)! As a (oru) young child (bAlankanAi) with a blue (nIla) complexion (mEni) sleeping on (mEl) a leaf (ilai) of the mighty (mA) banyan (Ala) tree (marattin), as the one who ate/swallowed (uNDAn) the seven (Ezhum) worlds (njAlam), as the one who makes his bed (aNaiyAn) from a snake (aravin) in the city of SrIrangam (arangattu), adorned with necklaces (Aramum) made from priceless/beautiful (kOla) and huge (mA) gems (maNi) and ropes (tAmamum) of pearls (muttu), and endowed with an (Or) unending (muDivu illAdu) grace (ezhil), he has entrenched himself in my (en) heart (nenjinayE) in its entirety (niRaikoNDadu)!
