carnatic music on bulbul tarang?

Has anyone played carnatic music on bulbul tarang?

I came across a few clips of Indian film songs rendered on this instrument.

Not sure if this instrument has enough scope for gamaka etc. to measure up to CM requirements.

a former neighbour who had a bulbultara (he was an ex army and he used to play hindi songs in that and it seems he learnt to play on his own) gifted that (it requires some repair as the buttons are a bit worn out but still produces lovely music) to my son was learning music. the neighbour had by chance heard my son practice and he was very pleased with his singing skills that he presented the bulbultara to my son before he got transferred to north india....my son (as he has some swara gnana) practiced and played the song ganamurthe and akhilandeswari though he had not been taught these songs..he got the swarams after listening to them...i have not recorded these Actualy it very lovely to listen to these songs in bulbultara..though it is very difficult to get the proper gamakams my son managed to get fairly the overall flavour....

This was my first instrument I played as a kid. I used to play old hindi songs (at least a 100 of them). I could play just like that within minutes. And I had no training in CM or anything then. Ah! those days!
Later I did try some varnams like mohanam, vasanta and geetams. The instrument requires constant strumming so the scope of gamakas is limited.

How did I ever get out of listening to film songs. I guess Carnatic music did this to me.
Now watching this I am so....nostaligic. I have to dust my own bulbul tara from the attic.
