A very nice bhajan of Guru Nanak dev...
Here is my trial with the translation...

rAma sumira rAma sumira yahi tErO kAj hai
Chant/meditate upon (sumira) the name of SrI rAma! This (yahi) is your (tero) prime duty (kAj)

1: mAyA ko sanga tyAg harijU kI sharan lAg
jagat sukh mAn mithyA jhUTau sab sAj hai
Leave(tyAg) the association(sang) of mAyA and accept (lAg) the shelter (Saran) of SrI hari (hari jU). For the pleasures(sukha) of this world (jagat) and false (mithyA) fame (mAn) is all but a bundle (sAj) of fake(jhUTau) happiness.

2: supnE jyOn dhan pichAn kAhE par karat mAn
bArUkI bhIt jaisEn vasudhAkau rAj hai
All this wealth (dhan) is like a mere dream only (supne jyO). What matter(kAhe par) are you so proud of (mAn)? Like(jaise) a heap(bhIt) of sand (bArU) [which will be destroyed by just a small breeze/wind] are the pleasures (rAj) of this earth (vasudhA)

3: nAnak jan kahat bAt binasi jaihai tErO gAt
chin chin kari gayO kAlh taisE jAt Aj haiLakshman
nAnak says (kahat) O mankind(jan)! this material body of yours (gAt) will be destroyed (binasi jaihai). The time(kAl) has passed on bit by bit(chhin chhin kari gayo) and today(Aj) is also passing(jAt) in the same way(taise). Therefore chant the name of SrI rAma.

The meaning is really nice - Krishnaa. Could "mAn" also mean "consider" ?

Yes this is the song. I often see it spelled as "rAma simara" and the way MS sings it, it sounds like that. Are we sure "rAma sumara" is correct?

Also, is this Hindi or another North Indian language?

Also, my note say that the rAgam is "peelu" (or I guess, "pIlu"). Is this correct?

Thanks alot for the links.... Lakshman ji and bala

Rajani akka,
Thanks! And mAn could also mean consider. But in this case, I see it as pride only ... :)

HariKrishna,
The right version is rAma sumira. Others are simply due to accent variations. They all mean the same thing.
Yes it is Hindi .. with poetic shades... :)

Yes, It is correct. Just to note that this was set to tune by the late Srinivasa Rao.

Looks like there are a few versions for rAma sumira...

Version 2 :

rāma sumira rāma sumira rāma sumira bhāyi
rāma nāma sumirana rūpata dikhāyi

vanitā suta dēkha dēkha sampati sukhadāyi
dina mē kachu nāhi tērō kāna avadha jāyi

ajāmilkā nigā gaja patita karma dēvū
udar pāra parē rāma nāma līnhē

tējō karma vidhi nicēta rāma karma lēhi
guru prasāda janaka dhīra rāma karata dēhi

*****
Version 3 :

The lyrics for rAma sumira are different in this Hari Om Sharan version.
Some powerful lines like... chAr dino kA jIvan hai yE........
