This isn't exactly a review, but here are some aspects of the concert that I think are worth mentioning:

The second kriti of the concert, Ananda nartana gaNapathim bhAvayE was a beauty - I haven't heard the kriti before; it was so well structured that it made one want to get up and dance to its beat! Surutti alapana by Ganesh was a gem - his voice having gained a lot of 'weight', so was the ragam and tanam by Shashikiran for hemavati. The RTP had both anulomam and pratilomam - the latter isn't very popular these days. Overall, a good, balanced concert.

I had been to a Shashikiran/Ganesh concert in December of 2005 and witnessed for the first time a pratilomam. I was very thrilled to see it as I have never seen any artist in the modern era(Sanjays and the Krishnas) actually doing a pratilomam. They went from a 2 kalai to a 1 kalai and then a 1/2 kalai. It was extremenly interesting to watch. Many artists even skip the tisram.
Seems like the duo are very strong in the talam department.
