
T.V. Ramprasadh, a prominent carnatic classical vocalist with over 30 years of performing experience and 20 years of teaching experience, will be conducting a workshop on “Daasar Padas” on 13th and 14th August 2011 at Ambalam Arts & Culture Pvt. Ltd.
Ramprasadh, an authority in Daasar Padas, will share with the participants, a collection of unique Daasar Padas and delve into the approach and technique of handling such compositions.
Daasar padas are the compositions of saint poets predominantly from Karnataka. These padas were composed by Haridasas who were saints, poets and philosophers who considered themselves as the servants of the lord, such as Purandaradasa. The emotional content is rich and layered and the language is soaked in bhakti or devotion.
As a part of the workshop, Renjith Babu, a seasoned Yoga expert trained at the Sivananda Ashram will share with the students, asanas and breathing techniques to help vocalists in improving their vocal chords, posture and stamina.

The timings for the workshop are as follows:
5.00 pm to 6.00 pm – Yoga for Vocalists
6.00 pm to 8.00 pm – Workshop on Daasar Padas
The workshop is free and open to all those who have learnt at least 5 varnams. Students are requested to wear comfortable clothing and ensure food intake two and a half hours prior to the yoga sessions.
