I heard Suryaprakash yesterday in Musiri's chamber concert after a very long gap.
He sang sub-main DwijAvanthi - chetashri and main Bhairavi - kAmakshi, swarajathi. He sang REthigowlai ada thAla varnam in the beginning.I have never heard any of these from TVS.This needs to be appreciated.
Generally the concert was good.He even sang a TNR sangathi (he told) in Bhairavi. But his Dwijavanthi had a staunch sAhAnA sangathi and in Bhairavi I could hear a kharaharapriya sangati.I think he may avoid these.
His rendition of KrishnaneebEghanE,English notes, shlokam in rAgamAlika from nArAyanEyam were all very good.

DwijAvanthi --- he tried to teach me that name, in conversation after the concert, but it would not pass through my ear cells into my brain cells. I had asked him about the piece, and his alapana, which I felt had a wonderful sweetness to it.
Suryaprakash carries a weighty concert from beginning to end with a light touch, and with no lack of serious. There is a little drama in his presentation, but it never takes second place to pure musicality. The concert lasted three hours, but at no time did it feel like a loooong concert. He seems to have boundless energy. I complained about Mangalam. "Why?" he asked. "Because it came an hour too early." He promised me a four-hour concert one day, and I have no doubt that he could do it without any loss of either momentum or quality.
It was an excellent concert, as those presented at the Musiri household always are. They are approximately-monthly events that are much to be recommended. Rasikas will never be disappointed there

Quite right , his paramaguru MMI has sung chEtashri but I am not sure about reetigowlai varnam. I think it is a safe assumption that MMI like TVS has also not sung swarajati.ganeshkant wrote: He sang sub-main DwijAvanthi - chetashri and main Bhairavi - kAmakshi, swarajathi. He sang REthigowlai ada thAla varnam in the beginning.I have never heard any of these from TVS.This needs to be appreciated.
Can you also squeeze your memory about the song list ? I wish I was there, intimate chamber atmosphere , reminds me of his cracker at manakkal's house few years back.
Would appreciate few words about the accompanists ?

RTP - BrindAvana sAranga - rAgamAlika in pallavi includes chandrakauns & kEdAra gowlai
a kavadi chindhu sort of.. (some one told its a master piece of Muisri)
nArAyanEyam slokam in sahAna and yaman followed by krishna nee...
