pada varnam for arangetram

I am looking for a pada varnam for arangetram. My daughters are doing it together. Telugu or tamil.

Anything by the Tanjore Quartet. Ye Maghuva is one of my favorites, as well as Danike, and of course Sakhiye.

There are numerous pada varnams in Telegu and Tamil. This is something to be discussed with the students' teacher as they will have to teach the item!

One of the first things you need to decide is whether you want a SringAra pada varNam or a bhakti pada varNam. Then, you need to figure out the language you want it in. If you choose a bhakti varNam, you should probably decide what deity/god you want it to be on. Once you have these ironed out, you can start looking for appropriate ones.
My advice is that if your daughters are teens, then, a bhakti varNam may be easier on them. Many of the SringAra varNams call for very nuanced emoting skills and they usually fall flat when not performed well.

Thanks for the replies. Good points to start with. I am looking for Telugu or Tamil, bhakti pada varnams. I am trying to have something on hand before I request the teacher. Let me know.
